"Do you have to go?"

"I do."

"When will you be back?"

"Before the next full moon."

"..."

"I won't be long, Mei. Just focus on your recovery."

"But- But I don't want to be alone, Naraku."

"You won't be. I'm just making some final arrangements so I won't leave here any time soon. Just in case any more events happen."

"Events?"

"..."

"Events like what?" She asked again, this time with more emphasis on the 'what.'

"Nothing, my dear. Just rest." This wasn't good enough for her. "Kagura will be back in shortly. And if you feel sick, or anything at all. Tell her. And everything will be taken care of."

"... Okay."

The night fell, leaving Mei to slumber along with the sun. Her thoughts and worries wavered into the night the deeper she slept, the further Naraku walked away from the castle, the longer time held its restraints around Kagura and Naraku as they collectively carried a secret so vast and so obscure that it could blind the sun.

The night, with its secrets, simmered into darkness to make room for the light.

Before the orange hues could kiss the tatami doors and coat the outside lakes an opaque peach tone, she wandered throughout the castle.

Where did the shards go? She purposely hid them away in a discrete location while Naraku was away so he couldn't find out. How could I be so stupid? She spat at her self.

Frustrated, fearful, fatigued. All three emotions circled around her like ravaged crows to a carcass.

"I have to figure out something before the girl catches on that we don't have her shards." Or, more importantly, that she didn't have the shards.

"Dammit all!" If she continued to tap her forehead with the base of her fan she was going to bruise. But she didn't care.

Her walking ceased. She stood at the grand doors of Naraku's master bedroom, a chill creeping up her neck. This was against everything that she was taught to understand. But she was desperate.

"There's no other way." She justified. With a firm tug and pull, the tatami doors slid open. Before the bell adjacent to his door set off as an alarm, she used two fingers to stiffen the lip and clapper from touching, deafening her intrusion.

It was eerily quiet. Not even the whisper of the wind outside or the flickering of a nearby candle could be heard inside the room. She knew she wasn't supposed to be here, but she had to be here. The moment her feet touched the chilled tatami mats on the floor, a light flickered ahead of her. Next to it sat Kanna, her face remaining stoic and still. She clutched the mirror in her hands, her eyes wavering down to the ground, unfocused and permeated into nothingness.

Shit. Does he know I'm here? There would be a small yet significant possibility that he did. But if he wasn't next to Kanna, he wouldn't be able to see what she was doing. Or so she hoped, at least.

Her feet guided her forward to Kanna, closer and closer until she stood in front of her. When they were but a few feet apart from another, she didn't flinch. She always wondered was Kanna blind. Could she really feel or sense anything without the mirror?

Kagura sighed, pulling her lips in only slightly. "Kanna. I need your help." A silent response. "I need your help finding a few shards that've been misplaced around the castle. They... they were Mei's mother's, I met her in the village and- and I just need your help to find them." There was a long-drawn-out silence in exchanged, putting Kagura on edge. Say something! She begged her in her mind. Just then, Kanna gripped the mirror as it glowed to life. The room was an opaque blur at first till she realized-
