The car seemed to finally be slowing down. I stared at the remains of my cupcake and stuffed it into my mouth. My eyes slid over to Evelyn's leftovers. He'd eaten more than gracefully. My lap was covered with crumbs whereas his... weren't. I scowled, my eyes roaming around looking for those leftovers. Much to my dismay he'd finished all his food.
I peeked around at the houses. There was a soft orange light of the streetlamps that remained nothing else. Everything seemed quiet.
"I don't suppose you're ever going to meet your mother again?" I asked Evelyn finally. For a second something like confusion flickered onto Evelyn's face, a small frown on his face, then the confusion vanished, Evelyn didn't reply for a while.
"We're going to my house." He paused. "Our...house." He glanced at the streets. I leaned back.
"Why didn't we move earlier?" I demanded, doing my best to still sound annoyed- after eating that food it was a little hard to do anything apart from feeling happy. Evelyn didn't reply again for a while.
"Business." He muttered quietly.
In that time I decided to observe Evelyn, very discretely. He seemed to have a calculating look on his face, though there was no shred of emotion on his face- except for in his eyes. It was that look that he always got when I said something... or usually when I lied. As if he was trying to figure out if what I had said was a lie or not, I wondered what on earth he was thinking though whatever he was thinking about I didn't have a good feeling about it. His eyes flickered over to me.
"Is there something the matter?" he asked, his voice quiet.
"There's just something on your face." I pointing vaguely at his face, he stared for a bit longer, (yes I did think we would probably crash when he looked away from the road but we didn't) then his eyes flickered over to the rear view mirror.
"There's nothing on my face." He said shortly.
"Oh yeah it's not there anymore." I leaned forward wondering if I should prod his face to see if it was plastic, (leaning forward was not an excuse to look closer at his face). "Yeah it's not there- must've fallen off." I concluded, Evelyn didn't reply, instead his eyes flickered back to the road.
I sighed and instead turned outside. We seemed to almost be on a deserted roads, field etched as far as the darkness would allow me to see. I started realising this scene was far too much like a horror movie scene.
"We're going to get attacked." I explained shortly, Evelyn's eyes flickered over to me,frowning slightly. "By a possessed lady or a possessed girl." I continued, Evelyn relaxed his tensed shoulders and sighed. Well, don't say I didn't warn you...I thought to myself glad that I wasn't driving alone.
But I remembered driving through fields similar to these when I was younger. Running through fields just like these in the morning whatever the weather...

The rain was little more than a drizzle, but it was enough to make the grass underneath me slippy. My hands were a little numb and I stopped running, catching my breath. I'd been running in circle.
"Can I stop now?" I snapped the question. The man in front merely folded his arms and raised his eyebrow.
"If you've learnt your lesson." He said finally. "And say please." I stared back at him, folding my arms, I could only imagine what I looked like. Red face, wild hair.
"Please." I finally said, the man nodded and tilted his head towards the car we'd come in.
"We can eat breakfast now." He started walking away. "it wasn't too bad for a 13 year old." He added glancing back. I stumbled after him and slid into the car. Not caring if I made the seats muddy, I'd fallen over more than once whilst I'd been running.
