“Nothing.” She grumbled in response, I stared at her for a bit in frustration.

“What?” I repeated, she glanced at me and shrugged.

“I don’t have my purse.” I blinked and sighed, she seemed to forget that we were after all married... why was that so hard for her to get into her brain?

“Yes, I’m paying.” I sighed walking in dragging her along behind me. Hazel seemed more than releculant to come after me. It seemed she found it almost embarrassing to be seen with me. My frown deepened at the thought.

“I’m not buying anything with your money.” I heard her grumble, I blinked and turned to her.

“You’re my wife I’ll be paying for you.” I hissed trying not to get anyone’s attention. Hazel snorted in reply. “From now on, I will be providing for you Hazel.” I continued trying to stay calm; my grip on her wrist tightened a little as she raised her eyebrow.

“Actually,” She replied her voice a little colder than before. “I’ll be looking for job once we’ve returned,” I blinked at her, “I’m not a helpless little housewife Evelyn- I will get a job.”

A silence followed her comment.

“We’ll see about that won’t we?” I replied coldly, my eyes burning into hers. She quickly looked away her face turning red as she clenched her teeth. This woman just didn’t get it; she was probably one of those feminists who thought that women and men were created to be exactly the same in everything they did. She just wanted to make everything harder- more complicated.

Hazel’s POV

The nerve of this man. I swear right now I just wanted to grab the fork on the table and plunge it into his throat and rip out his tongue. I fumed silently to myself wondering how I could possibly spend the next two weeks alone with him- let alone for the rest of my life.

If this continued, I was quite sure this wouldn’t work out. Evelyn wanted a woman who wanted to stay home and get provided for whereas I wanted all my hard work to pay off now, I’d worked hard to get where I was now. What with all those dreaded A levels and all.

If he thought that I was going to be stuck inside his house for the rest of my life... boy was he wrong. I started eating quietly wondering to myself what I was going to do now, I mean, who exactly did this man think he was?

I glanced around at the plates and took the one with no meat on it, Evelyn looked up an irritated look on his face, he put down his fork and knife and stared at me.

“Now what’s your problem?” He asked briskly, I blinked at him, I was sure I hadn’t said anything now. Oh wait- ah yes, my dear husband seemed to have forgotten or not known that I was a vegetarian.

“I’m a vegetarian.” I replied finally, keeping my face as expressionless as I possibly could. Evelyn blinked and sighed.

After a bit we finally stood up and walked out in silence, I folded my arms realising there were no pockets, I had to do something with my hands didn’t I? Evelyn shot me a look from the corner of his eyes and took my hand again, well he couldn’t have bad publicity now could he? I sighed to myself.

“I’ll just go back now.” I informed him, Evelyn nodded quite pleased that he didn’t have to spend any longer with me, he handed me the keys and glanced at me.

“I have something to do.” He said quietly and waited a bit as if expecting me to insist that we spend more time together, I didn’t, what I did want to know was where he was going.
