I quickly rolled away, sticking onto the wall as if my life depended on it. Evelyn lay down and glared at me in welcome to which I replied with a glare as well.

I sat up, the glare still on m face “I’m going” I declared, my face red with annoyance.

“You aren’t going anywhere, sweetheart” Evelyn said coldly pulling me back down.

There was a minutes silence where I snatched my arm away and curled up as far away as I could. But boy was the bed comfy! I took a pillow and placed it in between of us two and felt another glare radiating my way

“What are you doing?” I heard Evelyn snap.

“Putting a pillow between us, duh!” I replied sweetly. Another glare. “So that I don’t have to see your face, it’ll give me nightmares” I snapped.

Did I have to explain everything to him?

“The pillow isn’t necessary” Evelyn said coldly snatching the pillow away “don’t be ridiculous”. After a while he seemed to realize he was taking all the duvet and shuffled a bit closer throwing some of it my way. It was warm which I didn’t like, neither did I like that we were sharing the same duvet. I sat up.

“What now?”

“Where’s the duvet I normally use?” I asked.

“You don’t need it”

“Yes I do”

“This duvet’s big enough”

“No it isn’t, I have hardly any duvet” I snapped.

“That’s because we are on opposite sides of the bed”

“Then good” I snapped “it’s supposed to be that way”

I heard Evelyn clench his teeth but ignored it, staring at the ceiling, half of me was inside the duvet and half of it was out. It was a weird feeling.

“Hazel” Evelyn said sharply

“I don’t want to be so close to you”

“Stop acting so immature!” Evelyn growled. I scowled.

“Go away” I grumbled, closing my eyes. Then, abruptly, somebody pulled me into the cover, away from the safety of the wall. Too close for liking, I tried to wrench my arm away but he didn’t let go.

“There” he said sweetly “get used to it”

I didn’t want to get used it. We were too close. I could even feel him breathing on me. I pulled a face which he ignored.

“Stop breathing on me” I snapped.

“What am I supposed to do? Stop breathing” Evelyn snapped.

“That’s the first good idea you’ve had” I said sweetly. I’m too hilarious. Evelyn didn’t seem to find it funny though. He narrowed his eyes and examined me for a couple of seconds which was not at all uncomfortable.

“Don’t stare at me” I glared at him.

“Shut up you stupid woman” Evelyn said. I tried not to scratch his face off., looking away, trying to ignore his staring.  “For such a big mouthed idiot, you are quite pretty” he said after a minute silence.

I felt heat rise to my face and gave him another glare. “Shut up” I snapped. He raised his eyebrow, looking amused.

“What? Can’t take compliments?” he asked sweetly.

“It’s offensive if you say it”

“Oh, how mature” Evelyn said, brushing my fringe away. I recoiled and gave him another glare.
