The sound of gunfire echoed in her ears as she moved through the desolate streets, her senses on high alert. Her heart pounded in her chest as she scanned the shadows for any sign of movement.
Suddenly, they were upon her - a group of figures emerging from the darkness, their faces obscured by the veil of night. Giselle's muscles tensed as she reached for her weapon, her fingers wrapping tightly around the cold steel of her gun.
But as the figures drew closer, Giselle's blood ran cold. They were just teenagers helding guns ready to fire, but their eyes wide with fear and desperation. These were not hardened soldiers, but innocent souls caught in the crossfire of a war they could not understand.
Giselle hesitated for only a moment before she opened fire, the sound of her shots ringing out in the stillness of the night. But with each pull of the trigger, her heart grew heavier, weighed down by the weight of the lives she had taken.
The teenagers fell to the ground, their lifeless bodies sprawled out on the unforgiving pavement.
With a gasp, Giselle jolted awake, her body drenched in sweat. She plops down, still shaking, with that image burned into her brain. No matter how much time goes by since the war, Giselle will always have those memories etched into her mind. And let me tell you, they're not going anywhere. It's like they've taken up permanent residence up there. But that was war and that was her orders.
Trying to catch her breath, she glances at the clock on the nightstand and realizes it's almost 6 AM already. Well, might as well get up now and gear up for the first day on the job.
