4 MONTHS LATER

I drank a bottle of whiskey as I sat by Sean's grave. I tried to visit once every two weeks.

I remembered my brother by. He was my best friend. I felt he was the one person who fully knew me and I knew him too.

"Karen's fine, by the way." I told him. "She misses you a lot. I don't know how you did it..." I chuckled. "but you got her to fall for you."

I ran my fingers through my now short hair. I cut it after everything that happened. I figured it signified a change. I also changed the way I dressed. I stopped wearing pants and changed to skirts. I never felt comfortable in dresses, but this wasn't me anymore. I changed my name too. To everyone in town I was known as "Carla Hernandez". My real name was all over West Elizabeth when Blackwater happened. I couldn't risk it.

"Sadie's doing good." I chuckled. "I don't know how I managed that either. You were right. She's always been out of my league."

It was almost like I could hear his annoying yet longed for voice.

"Alright, then." I sighed standing up. I poured some whiskey on his grave and grazed the cross lightly. "I'll see you later, brother."

I walked over to my new horse, Canela. I named her after her brownish orange coat. "Come on, girl." I gave her a pat.

I remembered Angel by. That poor horse. He was special. He went out fighting.

"Alright." I made a click sound. "Let's go, girl."

I rode to Valentine. It was a pretty short trip. I stopped by at the general store and got some groceries for the day. Just a few ingredients for the stew.

I then rode to our house. It was a nice little homestead just north of town.

I hitched my horse. I then walked past the chicken coop and to the house. I walked in and hung my coat by the door.

I dropped the groceries off in the kitchen then I walked over to our living area. Tilly sat on the couch reading a book. I smiled and sat at the other end of the couch. "Sadie back yet?" I asked and Tilly shook her head. "Nope."

"And Reverend?" I asked and she shrugged. "I don't think he ever got out of bed."

"And you just let him sleep the whole day?" I chuckled and she shrugged. "I'm just minding my business, Rosa."

I laughed a little. "Okay." I sighed. "I'll get on with dinner then."

"You need help?" Tilly finally looked up from that book. I shook my head. "I'll tell you if I need you."

I didn't feel too negative about cooking. I actually liked it a little. Reverend and Sadie usually made breakfast. Tilly and I usually made dinner.

Karen... well, I think it was best for us that she stayed out of the kitchen.

I started getting everything prepared. I seasoned the beef and started cutting up vegetables.

I was peeling the potatoes when someone Reverend got home.

"I am back from my adventures." I heard Reverend walk in the house. He came into the kitchen and I looked over at him confused. "Hey... I- I thought you were still in bed."

"No, miss." He laughed a little. "You know I don't like rotting in bed like that."

"I'm sure..." I chuckled.

"I- I made some money, miss." Reverend said making me placed the knife and potato down. I turned to him and smiled. "That's nice." I crossed my arms. "How much?"
