Sadie and I were about to visit Beechers Hope. We were on the hunt for an accountant. Sadie figured it was a safe enough job to invite John on.

I had also heard Abigail and Jack were back. I was very nervous to see Jack. I wasn't even all that sure he'd remember me.

Sadie and I rode in and there I saw a young boy. It was Jack. He was about twelve years old now. God, how the time flew by.

"Ma! Pa, come out here!" Jack yelled. His voice was much deeper. He looked so different.

Abigail and John came out of the house. Abigail laughed. "Sadie! Rosa! Y'all are alive. John, it's-"

"Hi, you two." Abigail said as we approached her. She held Sadie's hands. "You look so well." She turned to me. "And you-"

"Hi, Abigail." I smiled and she did the same. "Come here." She gave me a hug and pulled away. "Jack- he's..."

"I saw." I looked down at him. I smiled. "You- you probably don't remember me." I said and he laughed a little. "I do, aunt Rosa."

I breathed out in relief and gave him a tight hug. "Oh, I missed you so much. You've gotten so much bigger."

"Oh, i'm so happy." Abigail stared at us. "I'm so happy. You two come in, please." She said and I pulled away. "How are you now, Jackie?"

"I'm well." He smiled as we walked into the house.

"He's got his nose stuck in a book most days." John told me and I chuckled. "That's good. That's real good, Jack."

"Really?" He looked up at me with a smile and I nodded. "Oh, yeah. It's a privilege to be able to read."

Abigail served us some stew for dinner. We ate outside on the porch.

I smoked a cigarette as I pretended to eat. It turned out that John wasn't being dramatic when describing Abigail's cooking. The poor woman managed to mess up a basic stew. Hopefully one day, someone in the house would learn to cook; whether that be Abigail or John.

"And you two?" Abigail asked. "Why in the world are you two armed to the teeth like that?"

I looked over at Sadie letting her speak. "Well," She started. "we're working women, Abigail. We do some bounties, sometimes we do security jobs. We've been talking about starting our own transportation business."

I laughed a little. "Your own business."

"Well, she hasn't come around yet." Sadie smiled. "But i'm sure she will."

I shook my head and Sadie chuckled. "Anyway... I was thinking maybe if John wanted to earn some money...?"

"My husband, he ain't looking for that type of work." Abigail said and John cleared his throat. "I took on a lot a debt when we bought this place."

"And you're working for them to pay it off?" Abigail referred to us. I looked over at Sadie and I exhaled cigarette smoke. I then mouthed 'awkward'.

"Yes, sometimes, I was." John said and Abigail got loud. "But I thought we said no more of that."

"No, you said that." He stood up. "What else am I gonna do? I'm a goddamn man."

This idiot.

"It's legal work, Abigail... and we never got killed. It's hunting down fools for the government." Sadie said and I nodded. "We rarely get hurt either."

"See? Easy." Sadie said. "Even Jack could do it."

"Don't you dare put those stupid ideas in the boys head." Abigail looked back at Jack. "He's gonna do something better than this."
