Chapter Ten

Applejack(Applepaw)'s POV

In the Dark Forest, we waited for Tigerstar and Nightstar. They were tellin' all of us something. I sat next to Snowtuft. He was calm, his white fur smooth and his blue eyes pondering. I jumped when I heard a yowl.

"Apprentices and warriors! I have an announcement!", Tigerstar yowled. I looked up to see a dark blue-gray she-cat. She had a patch of white on her chest that looked like a moon. Her sky-blue eyes reminded me of Luna. Wait a sec, I thought, is that Luna?

Tigerstar glared at the she-cat, fury blazing in his amber eyes. The she-cat just simply glared back at him, the same fury along with defiance in her eyes.

"This cat is a tratior!", Tigerstar yowled.

The she-cat stood to defend herself. "I never was truly with you. Nightstar had taken over, and I had no control. She is gone now, forever. And I will not be coming back here. I will go back to StarClan where I belong."

Tigerstar narrowed his eyes and unsheathed his long claws. He raked the she-cat fiercely on the cheek, then pinned her down.

"Then leave, Moonstar. I give you mercy, but don't expect it in the future.", Tigerstar growled.

He let Moonstar up, and let her leave. The she-cat dipped her head to the dark brown tabby and ran away.

Thistleclaw started to bristle. Snowtuft even looked over, surprise in his eyes.

"Tigerstar, why would you let her go?! You should have killed Moonstar!", he growled, his spiky fur even spikier then normal, his amber eyes ablaze as Thistleclaw glared at Tigerstar.

Tigerstar simply returned his glare. "I repayed her, that's all. She gave me murderous cats and a chance to start over. To take over the Clans."

Chaosfang put in equal reason. "True enough. But she betrayed all of us.", he meowed.

Changemoss just looked at Chaosfang, her eyes starting to blaze. "So? She never was in control. Who cares, anyway? She's gone. We can go back to training and planning our attack."

Chaosfang opened his jaw to counter Changemoss, but Tigerstar's brisk growl silenced him.

"Enough!", Tigerstar growled,"Now go back to training, all of you. Changemoss is right. Its over now, so it doesn't matter. Destroying the Clans is what truly matters."

Blackcrystal said something that made even Tigerstar's eyes widen. "Letting her go was a mistake, Tigerstar. Now all of StarClan will know of our plans."

Tigerstar narrowed his eyes. "I'm sure they already do know. We will destroy them as well, anyway."

And with that, Snowtuft and I went to our training spot. As we padded there, I asked him about what we were doing tonight.

"Tonight, Applepaw, I'm going to show you the death blow."

I cocked my head. "Death blow?"

Snowtuft nodded. In the training area, a log was prepared, sitting upright in the middle of the clearing.

"Alright, Applepaw. This shouldn't be too hard for you. Simply jump in the air near the log, and spread out all your claws and slice in a circle. Aiming right, and jumping in the right place, you should be able to knock the log over, with your strength.", Snowtuft instructed. He demonstrated the move, jumping in the air, slicing the log, and sending it straight to the ground. Snowtuft picked the log up, and put it back in place. He marked an 'x' near the log on the ground with his claw.

He nodded and I went up to the small log. It went a bit over my head, like an older warrior. I saw the claw marks where Snowtuft hit the log. I took a deep breath and lept into the air. Spreading out my paws, I slashed in a swift circle. I felt my front claw dig into the log, and felt my hind paw kick it. The log went flying to the edge of the clearing. I balanced myself and landed genlty on my paws.

Snowtuft just stared, awe in his ice blue eyes.

"That..that was...really..g-good.", he stuttered, suddenly surprised with my strength.

"Well, apple buckin' has its perks.", I meowed.

Snowtuft cocked his head, then shook it. He jumped when the rustling of the bushes revealed four cats. It was Chaosfang, Twilight, Rarity, and Breezepelt.

"Practicing the death blow, eh, Snowtuft?", Chaosfang meowed.

"Not like you'd use it,", Breezepelt muttered.

Snowtuft narrowed his eyes. "What are you even doing here?", he spat.

"We came here to let these apprentices fight.", Chaosfang meowed smoothly.

Snowtuft calmed down again, and saw Redwillow and Lizardpaw come into the clearing.

"What are we doing here again?", he asked, reluctance in his tone.

"The apprentices are going to test their skills,"Chaosfang meowed,"Applepaw and Crystalpaw will fight first, then Silverpaw and Lizardpaw."

Redwillow nodded his head. I noticed Breezepelt whisper something in his apprentice's ear. Rarity nodded and padded forward, her claws unsheathed and her mouth in a snarl. I returned her snarl with my own scowl.

Rarity and I circled each other for a few moments, until she leaped. I dodged her swift attack, and raked her muzzle. Rarity hissed and spat a curse, then lunged at me again. This time, she hit me, and sent me to the ground, pinning me down. I bit her paw hard, and she loosened her grip. I flew up into the air, sending Rarity flying. She twisted and landed on her paws, then dashed forward. I swept to the side as she raked my back. Rarity came hounding back towards me, and I raked her shoulder and tripped her with my hind paw. Rarity fell to the ground but shot into the air before I could do anything. She aimed for my back, but I kicked her with my hind legs. The great force sent her spiraling to the ground. Rarity landed with a loud thud.

After a few moments, Rarity still lay on the ground. Judging by the rise and fall of her sides, I knew she was still alive, just unconcious.

I sat next to Snowtuft, and watched Twilight and Lizardpaw fight. Lizardpaw beat Twilight, but I knew why. She thought too much. Twilight spent the time she had thinking, not acting. I was surprised she hadn't killed herself in a border skirmish.

Snowtuft nodded his head, and I walked off, the world turning black as I awoke.
