Through The Eyes - TAEGYU ✔️

Beomgyu laid on his bed, shifting his gaze from the screen of his phone to the ceiling above him as minutes passed. He felt tired, maybe because he just got back from high school a few hours ago but he just couldn't close his eyes shut, or even take a short nap like he always does. He felt restless, nervous, and excited. He glances to the clock on the wall and he sighs. 

'Just 6 more hours.' Beomgyu thinks to himself.

 In the brink of his thoughts, his roommate, Soobin barges in with a judgemental look and a lollipop in his mouth. "Quit sulking and get your ass in the kitchen. Dinner's ready." 

Beomgyu sits up and stretches his arms, letting out a groan. "Shut up. I'll be out after a shower." 

After taking a shower, and putting on some shorts and a baggy white shirt, Beomgyu makes his way to the kitchen of the apartment he shares with his best friend, Soobin. Soobin's sitting at the dining table, not eating yet as he waits for Beomgyu to sit down across him. 

"It's just another 5 hours Gyu, relax a bit." Soobin says.

That's the thing, the latter just couldn't relax, with another 5 hours until his 18th birthday. Birthdays had always been one of his favourite occasions, but this year, it's different, and that's because he would get to know who his soulmate is, or maybe be given a hint about his soulmate.

The thing about soulmates are, when you've reached the age of 18, you will get to see through your soulmate's eyes. Through your soulmate's eyes, you'll try to figure out who they are, it might be easy and direct, and it might also be hard and indirect.

Beomgyu rolls his eyes and munches his food. "I'm ridiculous, I don't even know why I'm so worked up about this. Did you feel this way when it was yours?" Beomgyu asks. 

"I wasn't worked up much, maybe because I already knew who my soulmate was before the clock even strikes 12. I have been dating Yeonjun since the day he told me I was his soulmate. I didn't believe him but I went along, and before I knew it, I fell for him. And when I turned 18, I was really glad to know that it really was Yeonjun." Soobin replies.

"I asked you how you felt, not about your whole love story. Gross."

"Says bisexual Beomgyu and his strands of exes."

"I've only had 6 exes. Yeonjun had twice as many."

"Shhh. He's mine now. Forever and always." Soobin shushes Beomgyu. 

Beomgyu rolls his eyes and continues with his dish.

After a few hours of shifting his gaze from his lock screen to the ceiling again and again, the clock showed 11.50pm, just 10 more minutes before birthday. Soobin had called the latter down to the kitchen where he was surprised by a cake Soobin bought from his favourite bakery.

"Aww, what did I do to deserve a friend like you?" Beomgyu praises the latter and hugs him from behind.

"Geez. Don't get all touchy. Sit down, we've got less than 5 minutes."

The two sat there in silence, just staring at the cake. Beomgyu could feel his heart beating rapidly, while Soobin played it coolly while chatting up with Yeonjun on the phone.

The hour hand strikes 12, and the both celebrate. Beomgyu felt so happy and even received a call on the spot from his parents. Soobin gives Beomgyu a birthday present and reveals a BTS merchandise that the latter had been wanting for so long.

"A gift from Yeonjun and I." Soobin says.

After about half an hour of celebrating, chatting, and receiving birthday wishes through calls and messages, Beomgyu was about to go to bed but then realizes something.

"Soobin-hyung, so, how does this soulmate thing work?" Beomgyu asks.

"It doesn't happen the exact moment you turn 18, you can't force it. It happens unexpectedly. But, be aware of it yeah? When it appears, you'll only see through your soulmate's eyes for 60 seconds and then it's gone. And, who knows when will the next 'switch' happen."

Beomgyu pouts and sulks. "So, I have to wait?" Beomgyu asks and Soobin nods in return.

It'd be a lie if he wasn't disappointed. He really wanted to know who his soulmate was, but guess he had no choice but to wait.
