The two meet up at the school's rooftop during recess. Taehyun being extra cautious so that Kai doesn't try to find him. Thank God they were both from different classes. As soon as the red hair arrived to the rooftop, he sees Beomgyu sitting against the wall, staring at nothingness while playing with his fingers.
"Beomgyu?" Taehyun calls out.
Beomgyu snaps out from his trance and smiles up at the arrival of his soulmate. He pats the ground, signalling Taehyun to sit beside him. The younger sits as told.
"I actually have something to talk about to." Beomgyu starts.
Taehyun tilts his head. "Really? What is it?" Taehyun asks.
"No, you go first. You called me up anyways."
Taehyun takes a deep breath. "Well, I heard the possibility of a 'change' in soulmates. And, I'm kind of aware, that maybe you don't want me as a soulmate too. So, why not try our luck in this 'change' then? I'm not sure how though."
"I was about to tell you the same thing. But first, I'd like to apologize. I've been so hyped up about this soulmate thing without considering your feelings. I guess I was just excited because it's just something I've been looking forward for my 18th birthday."
"I'm sorry I had to ruin it though."
"No, that's okay. It's understandable. You're in a relationship. Of course, you'd want to be with your boyfriend."
It was silence right after. They both just stared at nothingness, while Taehyun glances at Beomgyu's slender fingers.
'His fingers are beautiful.' Taehyun thought.
"So, how should we do it?" Beomgyu asks. "To make this 'change' work?"
"Well, I heard you're getting back with Chaeryoung. I guess that's a start."
Beomgyu didn't want to say his thoughts but he really didn't expect the latter to bring up about his ex, and he himself wasn't sure if he wanted to get back with Chaeryoung.
"Honestly, even if I don't know you well, I don't want to.. unfriend you. I'm not sure if we're considered friends right now." Taehyun speaks up.
"We're acquaintances. But we can become friends. I'd love that. I don't want us becoming all distant all of a sudden."
"Aw shucks, I was thinking of becoming distant with you." Taehyun teases.
"Like hell I'd let you." Beomgyu strikes. "And you're right, maybe if I started dating Chaeryoung again, our soulmates might change slowly from time to time."
"But, Yeonjun-hyung told me it's a myth though..."
"We haven't seen it yet, right? So, let's be the first." Beomgyu says as he smiles at the latter.
Later that day, Beomgyu gets back to his apartment along with Soobin and continues his routine. Eat. Games. Homework. Sleep. But before he went to bed, he had to call someone. Beomgyu rings up Chaeryoung on the line and she instantly pick up.
"Beomgyu! Is there anything you need?" Chaeryoung sound startled but her sweet voice made Beomgyu giggle.
"Hey, Chaeryoung."
"Cut to the chase Choi Beomgyu."
"Aish, bossy as ever." Beomgyu chuckles. "Chaeryoung-" there was a long pause. After his talk with Taehyun, he had been having second thoughts about getting back with his ex or not. He technically does still have feelings for Chaeryoung, but for some reason, he wasn't sure. But, as soon as he recalled his and Taehyun's conversation on the roof and his and Kai's. He knew he had to get something done to have this 'change' work for the sake of all of them.
