"Wait, Ronin, where are we going exactly?" I asked as he held my hand, leading me toward the garage.
"Do you expect me to spoil the surprise?" he replied with a cheeky smirk, opening up the garage door.
Mom and Dad must not have been home, otherwise, they surely would have heard the commotion. Ronin grabbed an object from the garage, but I couldn't see what it was because it was pitch black inside.
"Dad's old bike?" I exclaimed, surprised.
"I never told you this, but I do, in fact, have a bike license," he smirked as he started the bike, the engine roaring to life. "Great, it works," he said proudly, pulling it out of the driveway.
"Wait, you expect me to get on with you?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah, duh. Just hop on the back," he patted the seat behind him.
"I'm not sure if this is a good idea," I began, but before I could finish my sentence, he revved the bike, drowning me out.
"What was that?" he chuckled.
"I don't want to get our clothes all dirty," I protested, but he revved the engine again, cutting me off.
"Just get on, Liam. Or are you perhaps scared?" he teased.
I sighed, knowing I was a bit apprehensive, having never been on a bike before, but my pride wouldn't let me admit it. Hesitantly, I got onto the bike, wrapping my arms tightly around Ronin.

As we rode through the night, the wind whipping past us, I couldn't help but hold on tighter, my heart pounding with excitement and nerves.
"Are you trying to kill me?" I shouted over the noise of the engine.
"Relax, Liam. I've got this under control," Ronin replied, a mischievous grin on his face.
"You better," I retorted, feeling a mix of exhilaration and fear.
The ride with Ronin was a mix of exhilaration and terror, with him playfully maneuvering through the streets to intentionally give me heart attacks. Every unnecessary turn, speed-up, and slow-down had my grip tightening around him.
As I slowly adjusted to the bike, I lifted my head hesitantly when Ronin told me to look up. The brimming night sky loomed above us, the cold breeze sweeping through me and calming my fears.
"Hey, Ronin, are you planning on murdering me or something?" I joked as we left the town and took a dirt path surrounded by trees. It felt like the kind of place where serial killers hide their victims.
"That hasn't crossed my mind yet, but maybe I should consider it," Ronin chuckled mischievously.
"You're so funny," I replied sarcastically.
Eventually, Ronin cut the engine, and we sat in silence for a moment, only the gentle lapping of water against the shore breaking the quiet.
"Wow," I breathed, taking in the serene beauty of the lake.
"Pretty great, huh?" Ronin grinned, clearly pleased with himself.
"So, the surprise is just a lake?" I asked, a bit confused.
"Shit, you really don't remember this place, huh?" Ronin remarked.
"Now that I have a better look at it, this is usually where people have parties."
"I hope it's still here. Come, follow me," Ronin said eagerly.
I couldn't help but wonder why he was so excited about all of this as he dragged me effortlessly along.
