As Ronin and I arrived at the prom venue, the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, casting a warm glow over the scene. The prom hall was beautifully decorated with twinkling fairy lights, draped fabrics, and elegant floral arrangements, creating a magical and romantic atmosphere. Soft music filled the air, adding to the enchantment of the evening.
We stepped into the prom venue, a rush of excitement and nerves washed over me. This was our first official event as a couple, and the idea of being seen together in public still made me a bit apprehensive. All eyes seemed to be drawn to me and Ronin as we entered.
"Ronin looks amazing," I heard a girl whisper nearby.
"Liam looks sexy, wish he could be mine," another voice chimed in.
"It's going to be alright," Ronin whispered to me, holding his hand out.
I was surprised by the gesture—Ronin, who was usually more reserved about our relationship, was making the first move. Taking a deep breath, I grabbed his warm hand, feeling a surge of relief as my nervousness faded away. We strolled down the walkway and through the tables, hand in hand.
As if we hadn't already attracted enough attention, some people started cheering us on, while others whispered among themselves.
"They're holding hands. Is Ronin gay?"
"What a waste," someone else muttered.
My breaths quickened, but then I spotted James and Elliott waving to us from a table in the distance. I remembered their advice: "Why should I care what they think?" With a proud smirk, I paraded alongside Ronin until we reached our friends' table.
"We saved you seats," Elliott grinned, wearing a bold purple suit.
"I'm so happy for you guys. Mr. Hot Shit and Liam, I guess you took our oh-so-wise advice," James chuckled, dressed in a white suit.
"Yeah, it helped," I admitted, cheeks flushing red.
"I'm glad you guys made it," Evelyn said, appearing behind us. She had a simple top braid with flowers woven into it, and her makeup was striking—red lipstick, eyeliner, and blush.
"I know, I know, it's a bit much. My mom went all out," Evelyn admitted with a hint of embarrassment as she sat down beside us.
"You look absolutely gorgeous," Ronin complimented her.
"Exactly, I almost didn't recognize you," I chuckled.
"Thank you, guys," Evelyn replied humbly.
"The music's pretty bad, Taylor Swift, really? But the food is pretty damn good," James murmured, diving into a bowl of chicken skewers.

As we settled in with our friends, the atmosphere felt more relaxed. Surrounded by supportive faces, I realized that being true to myself and my relationship with Ronin was what mattered most.
As the music switched to "Just the Two of Us," I couldn't contain my excitement. "I love this song!" I exclaimed, immediately jumping up from my seat as I noticed other couples gathering on the dance floor.
"You have to join me, Ronin," I insisted, turning to him with eager eyes.
"I'm really not much of a dancer, Liam. I think even a grandmother can dance better than me," Ronin protested.
"Please," I pleaded, unleashing my best puppy-dog eyes.
Ronin sighed, giving in to my persuasive gaze. "I can't say no to those eyes," he said reluctantly. "But it's your fault if I make myself look like a clown out there."
