Since the day we both apologized, Ronin and I haven't spoken much. The first week with Ronin passed by rather quickly, and I noticed him hanging out with William's posse. I should feel relieved no longer having to babysit him, but for some reason, I feel concerned.

It was Friday, the last period, the worst class of all: mathematics.

"Liam, I haven't seen you at practice since Monday," Elliot, dubbed the nicest guy in school, raised his concern.

"About that, can you tell William I quit?" I said nonchalantly, laying my head down on the desk.

"You're not serious, are you? You're our best kicker, man," he said in a surprised tone.

"Used to be," I murmured.

"Listen, Liam, you're the star of the team. It doesn't matter whether Ronin does better than you; you've been with us the longest. Plus, I don't think Ronin will be on the team for very long."

"Why's that?" I lifted my head, intrigued.

"He's been clashing with William. Sometimes I understand why, because you know how William can be," Elliott chuckled, "But other times, it feels like he's doing it on purpose."

"And how can William be?" I wore a slight smile, curious to hear Elliot's perspective.

"Good try, but you're not going to coax me into talking shit about him," Elliott chuckled.

As I walked home, thoughts raced through my mind. Why is Ronin going up against William? Is it because of their little tussle on Monday? Is he doing it for me?

A car pulled over next to me, and Mia popped her head out, bringing a smile to my face.

"Liam, I checked my schedule, and I'm all free. Wanna do something later?" she asked, wearing that innocent smile of hers.

"You can come over to my place. We can watch movies. Knowing my mom, she'll probably organize a feast," I snorted.

"Sounds like fun. Uh, Ronin lives with you, right?" she asked.

I simply nodded in agreement.

"I'll be sure to be there. Don't disappoint me," she giggled as the car pulled away.

As soon as the car disappeared, I raised my arms in excitement. "YESSS!" I yelled aloud. "It's a date," I thought to myself, feeling a rush of excitement.

"Hey, Mom," I said, entering the house and noticing Ronin gawking at me in the living room, yet my mind couldn't care about him right now.

"Someone looks brighter than usual. Spill the beans?" she snorted.

"Mia is coming over later," I said proudly, placing my hand on my hip.

"That's great news. I actually have news myself. Tonight we'll be having a big supper. Dad's coming home, and we also have a special guest visiting us," she uttered.

"Dad?" I stuttered. "He barely shows himself. Why now, the day Mia is coming," I thought to myself.

"Sounds fun," I said, trying to sound enthusiastic as my mom. Eventually, I made it to my bedroom.

"I can't face that bastard alone," I muttered, grabbing my phone to make a call to the group chat, dubbed "floor gang" by James as usual.

Both Evelyn and James picked up the call, James only dressed in his undies, disgusting me and Evelyn.

"I invited Mia to my place later," I said over the phone.

"Man, that's great," James chuckled.

"I'm waiting for the 'but'," Evelyn added.

"But my dad's coming as well. Can you guys please come? I don't care if it's not a date anymore. I just need you guys there, please," I pleaded over the phone.

"Okay, chill. We'll be there," Evelyn murmured.

I gave them the time, it was relieved knowing they'd be coming, I could focus less on dad and more on Mia.

As I made my way across the hallway, I could swear I heard the distinctive thud of dumbbells hitting the floor. Curious, I glanced around the corner and caught sight of Ronin in the gym, shirtless and glistening with sweat as he lifted weights. His defined pecs and rock-hard abs were on full display, and I couldn't help but notice the impressive size of his muscles.

However, my gaze involuntarily shifted lower, and I couldn't tear my eyes away from the outline of his member through his sweatpants. "How's it so big?" I couldn't help but think, feeling a mixture of fascination and embarrassment.

Suddenly, Ronin sat up, his deep breaths echoing in the quiet hallway. Sweat shimmered on his body, adding an extra shine to his already impressive physique. It was then that I realized I had been staring, and a flush of embarrassment flooded my cheeks.

"Can I help you?", he Turnt his head towards me giving me a freight.

"Uh, sorry, I was just... uh..." I stumbled over my words, feeling a rush of embarrassment flood over me.

"It's fine," Ronin replied, his voice calm but guarded. "Is there something you need?"

"Uh, no, sorry, I'll just... be on my way," I stammered, quickly turning to leave.

As I walked away, I couldn't shake the image of Ronin's muscular physique from my mind. What was wrong with me? Why was I even staring in the first place?

As the evening approached, I carefully selected a black button-up shirt and a pair of jeans, hoping to make a good impression. "I've got to look my best," I muttered to myself, feeling a flush of embarrassment spread across my cheeks.

James and Evelyn barged into my bedroom just as I was changing. Evelyn looked elegant in a purple dress, while James was his usual casual self in shorts and a rugged shirt.

"Doesn't anybody know how to knock?" I grumbled, trying to maintain some semblance of privacy.

"So you're telling me you have to share a room with Mr. Hots, even though you're rich," James teased as he plopped down on my bed.

"So what?" I replied defensively, feeling a twinge of irritation.

"What a poor way to be rich," James chuckled.

My mother's call to dinner interrupted our banter, and we made our way to the dining table. It was elegantly set with candles and flowers, a stark contrast to our usual casual meals.

As I heard the doorbell, my heart raced with anticipation, hoping it would be Mia. I quickly made my way to the door, eager to greet her. However, as I opened it, my expression fell as I saw William and his parents standing on the doorstep.

"Our special guests are here," my mom exclaimed excitedly from the dining room.

I tried to muster a smile as I welcomed them inside, but inside, I felt a pang of disappointment. This wasn't how I had envisioned the evening playing out.
