Ronin and Liam had been friends since birth, only a week apart. Their bond began in the hospital where they lay beside each other, chattering away in baby language. Throughout the years, they remained close, though it became evident that Ronin's life would take a different path due to his family's financial struggles.Despite the challenges, Ronin never complained, choosing to shoulder his emotions to avoid burdening his already stressed parents. He found solace in visiting Liam, where he could be himself in a less restrictive environment. However, Ronin's growing attachment to Liam sometimes caused tension, as he strived to emulate his friend to gain acceptance.
As Ronin's feelings for Liam deepened, he struggled to understand them. Eventually, he gathered the courage to confess his feelings, only to be met with disbelief and rejection from Liam.
"Hey, Liam... can I talk to you about something?" Ronin's voice trembled with nerves as he approached his friend.
Liam glanced up from his phone, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, what's up?" he replied casually.
"I... um... I've been feeling something lately, and I don't know how to say it," Ronin stammered, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
Liam frowned, sensing the seriousness in Ronin's tone. "Okay, just spit it out," he said, a hint of impatience in his voice.
Taking a deep breath, Ronin blurted out, "Liam, I... I like like you."
There was a moment of stunned silence as Liam processed Ronin's confession. Then, he burst out laughing, shaking his head in disbelief. "You're joking, right? I can't like a guy," he chuckled, dismissing Ronin's words as a joke.
But Ronin's tears betrayed his true feelings, his cheeks burning with humiliation. "I'm not joking, Liam. I... I really like you," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Of course, here's the revised scene with dialogue included:
Heartbroken, Ronin gradually stopped visiting Liam, compelled by his family's worsening situation.
One afternoon, Ronin mustered the courage to confront his father, only to be met with silence. Standing face to face with his towering father, Ronin braced himself for a response, unsure of what to expect.
"Dad?" Ronin's voice trembled as he entered his father's office, the weight of anticipation heavy in the air. For the first time in years, his father's stature seemed imposing, casting a shadow over their strained relationship.
"I... I need to talk to you," Ronin began tentatively, his heart pounding in his chest.
His father remained silent, his expression unreadable as he stared down at his son.
"I-I... I think I'm bisexual," Ronin confessed, his voice barely above a whisper, his palms sweaty with nervousness.
His father's eyes narrowed, a frown creasing his forehead. "You... what?" he uttered, his tone laced with disbelief and disapproval.
Ronin's heart sank, his worst fears realized. He had hoped for understanding and acceptance, but instead, he was met with rejection from the one person he longed to confide in.
The following day, Ronin returned to his father's office, his heart heavy with apprehension. As he entered, he was taken aback to find his father standing taller than him for the first time in years.
*
"Dad?" Ronin's voice wavered as he stepped further into the room, his eyes darting nervously around the familiar space.
His father's gaze was distant, his expression unreadable as he loomed over Ronin. The weight of the silence hung heavy in the air, suffocating any semblance of normalcy.
Ever since he carried the guilt of his father's passing. Two weeks later his mother forced him to move into Liam house.
Ever since his father's passing, Ronin carried the heavy weight of guilt on his shoulders, haunted by the relentless echoes of what-ifs and could-have-beens. Each day felt like an eternity, as he struggled to make sense of the senseless tragedy that had torn his family apart. Two weeks later, Ronin's mother made the difficult decision to uproot their lives, forcing them to move into Liam's house. The transition was jarring, a stark reminder of the fractured pieces of their once stable existence.
Ronin left the shower, freshening himself up after his jog. He noticed me sulking on the couch.
"Liam, if you hate me, I understand, but I didn't want to kiss Mia," his voice was soft, filled with sincerity.
"I don't hate you at all. Knowing that she's with William is all the evidence I need—those damn skanks," I murmured under my breath. I couldn't face Ronin.
"I did mean what I said. You were, and potentially might still be, my role model, flaws included," Ronin smiled as he sat next to me. I hadn't been this close to him since.
*
"You don't view me as perfect?" I questioned.
"Pft, not at all. Flaws make you human, no?" he chuckled.
"If only I knew... this prior, everything could've been prevented," I thought to myself.
"Did you not pay attention to what I said?" Ronin took a flustered tone. "I meant everything I said."
"Everything? You mean that?" I asked.
"What is this weird feeling? I know I've been having weird thoughts and feelings about Ronin, but it's never been this bad."
"Liam, I really like you."
My eyes widened in shock, did I hear him right this has to be a mistake. Even if it was why don't I feel disgusted no way I like like Ronin.
Our faces slowly gravitated towards each other, and I couldn't understand it, but it just felt so right. Our lips met, and as we slowly opened our eyes in unison, I couldn't help but feel a rush of confusion and excitement.
"Fuck, did that just happen?" I snorted, trying to break the tension.
"I thought you were into girls?" Ronin wrapped his arms around me, and I didn't fight him because his warmth around me just felt right, but why?
"Don't ask dumb questions, Liam. I literally confessed my feelings to you years ago," he scoffed, our faces inches apart.
I couldn't believe it. Ronin, the guy I had always seen as a rival, had just kissed me, and it felt... amazing. But what about Mia? What about my feelings for her? As I looked into Ronin's eyes, I realized that maybe, just maybe, my feelings for him were stronger than I had ever realized. And maybe, just maybe, I was ready to explore that side of myself.
