Chp 40: On our own.

As Jax and Pomni stepped into the new apartment, they marveled at the sight of the spacious living room, adorned with modern furniture and tasteful decor. The natural light streaming in through the large windows made the space feel airy and inviting.

"Wow, this place is pretty impressive," Pomni remarked, running her hand over the smooth surface of the coffee table.

Jax, on the other hand, seemed to be lost in thought. "It's strange, though. This place gives me a sense of familiarity like I've been here before," he mused, breaking the fourth wall once again.

As they continued to explore the apartment, Jax couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something more to this place than met the eye. He wondered if he was experiencing a strange case of déjà vu or if there was something else at play.

"Hey Pomni," Jax exclaimed with a proud grin on his face, "this is it! This is going to be our new place." However, Pomni appeared a bit apprehensive and questioned, "That's great, but what about our neighbor? Is everything okay with her?" Jax seemed puzzled by the inquiry and responded, "What neighbor? Just because you see some girl with pigtails doesn't mean she's crazy." But Pomni's concern persisted, "I don't know, there's something off about her. I saw her earlier with pigtails, and it just seemed strange." Jax realized that Pomni was genuinely worried and asked, "What did you find odd about her? Can you tell me more about it?" Pomni appeared a bit anxious but replied, "I can't put my finger on it, but there's something unsettling about her. Maybe it's just my imagination." Jax tried to reassure Pomni by saying, "Just because someone has a unique appearance doesn't necessarily mean they're crazy. Maybe she's a bit eccentric, but that doesn't mean she's dangerous or anything.”

Jax interrupted Pomni and said, "I understand your point. It's better not to mention certain characters from fictional shows because some readers may not be familiar with them and may search for them online. It's not a good experience when you come across inappropriate content related to your favorite fictional characters. Additionally, it's especially concerning when it comes to Digital Circus characters as they are known for their unconventional and bizarre content." He then looked at the screen and shook his head in disapproval."

As Pomni was speaking, she suddenly turned red in the face before she could complete her sentence. She realized that she and Jax would be alone in the room, and she had not thought it through. She needed to be careful about what she said and what she did. She couldn't even look Jax in the eyes without feeling shy. She looked up at him and saw him admiring the apartment once again, making her blush even more. "So cute!!!" she thought to herself. Suddenly, she remembered. "Wait a minute. Jax! Where is Dad?" she asked.

"Oh, him? Well, now that we've moved out, he said he and his new lady will move into a house of their own and live together," she asked for clarification.

Jax expressed, "He's been away from home for quite some time now, and I think it's time for us to start thinking about moving on. He's done his part, and now it's our turn to do our part and take responsibility for our own lives." Pomni responded with happiness, "I understand, it's good to hear that you are ready to take charge and move on.”

Even though Pomni was happy she was able to be with the love of her life, her feelings began to grow more with him, but the fact they were step-siblings still held her back. The siblings began to pack their belongings up, getting ready for their new lives in a new place they could call home.

Pomni was busy making her bed when she suddenly stopped in her tracks. She began to notice that her heart rate and breathing had changed drastically. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down, but her body felt hot and nervous. It was a strange feeling, and she couldn't understand why she was feeling this way.

Just then, Jax walked in and said, "Hey Pomni, I'm about to take a shower real quick, cool?" Pomni nodded, but her attention was diverted as she saw Jax standing shirtless in front of the doorway. She froze in her spot, not knowing how to react. She had never seen Jax like this before and didn't know what to do. The sudden rush of emotions made her heart rate and breathing even more erratic. She tried to compose herself, but it was difficult to ignore the physical sensations coursing through her body.

Jax bid farewell to Pomni and walked off to the bathroom to take a bath. Pomni stayed there for a moment, still thinking about the sight of Jax's bare torso. She felt embarrassed and her face turned red as she tried to shake off the thought. After a few minutes, she composed herself and headed to the park to meet up with the rest of the group.

As they all sat together, Pomni couldn't help but share her thoughts. "And after I saw him shirtless, I felt like my body wanted him," she confessed. Kinger, who was known for his nonchalant attitude, replied, "Ahh Pomni, your body is yearning for... Physical activities with him."

Ragatha nodded in agreement, but before she could say anything, Zooble interjected, "But you can't go around Pulling a PornHub with your stepbrother." The group fell silent, realizing the gravity of the situation.

The conversation between Pomni and Ragatha had turned to the subject of Jax. Pomni was trying to express her thoughts on Jax, saying, "I don't want him like that... I mean he's great but I don't want him like that." She was hesitant and uncertain, indicating that she was not sure about her feelings towards Jax.

However, Ragatha's response to Pomni's statement was unexpected. She commented on Pomni's height, which came across as unintentionally insensitive. "Not to mention... You're pretty small, you'd hope you could walk afterward," Ragatha said, unaware of how her words could be interpreted.

Pomni was understandably confused by Ragatha's comment. She asked, "I know I'm small but what does me wanting Jax relate with me walking?" She was trying to make sense of Ragatha's words, but it was clear that Ragatha had misspoken.

Realizing her mistake, Ragatha immediately covered her face with her hands in embarrassment. Zooble, who had been listening to the conversation, laughed out loud at the awkwardness of the situation, knowing what Ragatha meant by that. Meanwhile, Pomni was left feeling even more confused, wondering what had just happened.

Pomni seemed concerned as she asked about Gangle's whereabouts. Her friends, Ragatha and Kinger, didn't have any reassuring news to share. Gangle had been distant from them lately, and they suspected something bad had happened to her. Pomni tried to reach out to her, but Gangle had only been responding through text messages. Kinger, however, knew the real reason why Gangle was avoiding them, but he didn't want to disclose it.
