SNACKS?!

The next day, Me, Atsushi and ranpo were in the office. Me and Atsushi were discussing yesterday's incident and i was trying to comfort him a little.

*BOOM*

A loud rumbling sound was heard from out the window. I snapped my head in the direction of the sound and walked to look out, atsushi following behind.

Ranpo, who had been napping with his legs on the table, woke up from the explosion sound and fell back with the chair.

I helped him up and pointed out the window.
He raised his eyebrows at scene infront of us.

'It's happening huh....'
I bit the inside of my cheek, and glanced at where Atsushi was standing.
'Huh?'

He was already gone? Shit...i should've been more alert. Do i stop him? Would it be okay to stop him...? Or do i just let it be? But....

"Ugh..."
I sighed in annoyance.

"Why are you always so bothered?"
Ranpo questioned as he sat down on the table of his desk.
"Ive been observing you for a while now. You're always thinking and looking troubled about something."

I look at him for a few seconds and look back outside.
"Am i? Maybe it's because I'm ovulating."
'I really wish i could tell you, but i can't understand either.'
I translated the words i said to Ranpo in my mind, the word for this action is commonly known as the noun 'thoughts'.

He puts an arm around my shoulder, and I flinched a little, because it was so sudden. But i also couldn't help but feel butterflies in my stomach. He is incredibly sweet, can you really blame me?

I looked at him again and he smiled at me.
"Let's go eat! Have you ever tried the special mochi they sell at the bakery down the street? Its delicious! Let's go right now! You're paying though."

I blinked, did he just completely ignore that we had just witnessed an explosion? I still smiled though. He was trying to comfort me. Now that's the actual ranpo alright, a great therapist for real.
"I don't have money though."

He sighed and let go of me, putting his hands on the table and jumping off of it.
He smirked and put his finger up.
"We will just tell Kunikida to pay!"

I raised my eyebrows.
"Yeah....i don't think i want to be lectured."

He pushed me towards the door of the office.
"Oh come on! Nothing is going to happen, let's just go! Don't be a killjoy! Just think of the yummy and sweet mochi and forget about kunikida."

I laughed and nodded.
"Fine fine."

As we were walking down the street, I kept my senses aware just in case i see Atsushi, so i can talk to him so he doesn't take any rash decision.

I was walking right behind ranpo, so when he suddenly stopped, I bumped right into him.
"Ow- hey, why did you stop???"

His face turned grim. He looked at me seriously as if he had just heard some horrible news.
"I don't know the way."

'How did i forget this genius was actually dumb.'
I blinked at him and facepalmed.
"Just use the map on the phone. I will read the map."

he looked at me impressed.
"Hey you're actually smart!"

"Yeah....it doesn't really take rocket science to figure that out."
I sighed.

He opened the map and gave me his phone.
"What is the name of the shop?"
I asked him.

He stared blankly at me and I looked at him too, then realising something,
"Don't tell me...."

"I don't know the name of the shop."
He blurted out.

I huffed and gave him back his phone.
"Are we actually lost right now? How far are we from the agency???"

He shrugged. I said,
"Let's just go back to the agency with the help of the map."

He whined
"What??? No way. I need the Mochi! I can't live without it! ArGH i think i am actually dying from low amount of sugar in my blood!"
He dramatically puts a hand on his head and leans on my shoulder.
"TAKE ME THERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO LIVE WITH REGRETS, KNOWING YOU COULD HAVE SAVED ME!"

I deadpanned so hard that even the deadpaniest deadpanner in the deadpandom has never deadpanned the way i deadpanned.

"Are you being serious right now?"
I say as i looked around, seeing people watching us.
"Hey! People are watching."

"Yeah let them watch and see how cruel you are!"
He said loudly.

"Ok fine! Fine...we will find it, just shush!"

He looked up at me and pushed himself away and smiled.
"I knew you were a good person! Never doubted  You for a second!"

"Right...."
I shake my head.
"Do you have ANY idea where could it be? Atleast what it looked like?"

He thinks, and thinks and thinks. Three minutes later he snapped his fingers and said
"I remember! It was a pink coloured store, not too big not too small. And there was a small cat sculpture outside."

"Ooo thats actually useful, so Ranpo, look at the street and TRY to remember okay? Try to remember the way. We can get SOMEWHERE."

He started walking and looking behind every corner of the street. He crossed his arms and i looked at him. He seemed to have realised or seen something because he just randomly grabbed my arm and dragged me.
"What- where-"

He shushed me and dragged me to some other place that was not the one we were looking for. It was another place with various snacks. As we were outside, I saw Atsushi talking in a telephone booth in my peripheral view and I almost called out to him.

Ranpo followed my gaze and said
"Atsushi?"

"Yeah haha? You go inside and choose the snacks I'll be here, go go go."
I urged him and pushed him inside, not letting him speak. He got distracted by the snacks in the store and I ran to the telephone booth.

Atsushi was probably done speaking as he was already coming out the booth.
"Atsushi!"
I called out and he froze. I slowed down my pace once i was near him.
"You disappeared without any hint...what are you doing?"

I knew full well he was trying to run away, should i stop him...? But isn't it important for character development. '
Ugh i don't know what to do..!'

He spoke out,
"I was just doing some work.... The explosion was big, i heard port mafia's black lizard fired guns."
Atsushi looked down to the ground as he said that.

"Yeah..... They did, didn't they?"
I said as i looked at him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry, the agency will be safe. They're really strong people!"
I was trying to reassure him.

He smiled at me and said
"Stay safe, Y/N."
