Chapter 4

"She's a kid?!" Lucy and Sherry asked.

"Wendy..." Ren tested her name out.

"Marvelous," Eve said taking her last name from Marvel and turning it into Marvelous.

"Cute," Hibiki said and Selena noticed that Jura recognized her power too.

"Now then, since all guilds are present, we can begin," Jura said.

"You're not even fazed by this?!" Gray yelled and Selena knocked him on the head.

"Be quiet," she said pulling her hand back.

"What in the world is Cait Shelter thinking sending a little girl on this kind of mission?" Sherry asked. "They must be really hurting for members."

"You must be really blind, tramp," Emma scoffed when she recognized the small similar details of Wendy, thinking she, too, was a Dragon Slayer. 

"What'd you call me, you stupid cat?!"

"She isn't alone," a white cat said walking in. "You shouldn't jump to conclusions you gaudy trollop."

"There's a third talking cat...," Selena muttered.

"What is this?" Gray asked.

"A cat...," Lyon replied.

"Whoa, she just like Happy and Emma," Natsu said.

"She can talk, too?" Lucy asked amazed.

"What a stupid cat. I'm not gaudy," Sherry mumbled.

"That's your beef?!" Lucy asked.

"Oh, Carla! You followed me here?" Wendy asked.

"Of course I did. You're far too young to be traveling unaccompanied, child."

"Pretty kitty," the three playboys said and Selena sweat dropped. Happy stared at Carla and instantly fell in love. Carla turned her head away like a I'm-too-good-for-you way.

"You love her...!" Lucy teased with a creepy face.

"Not that line again," Selena groaned as she recalled a time when Happy and Emma both used that line.

"Sorry. I'm probably not what you expected. I know I'm much smaller and younger than most of you, and I may not be much of a fighter but I can use all kinds of support magic. So please, let me join the group! I'd be so embarrassed if you sent me home!"

"You'll never gain their respect if you can't show confidence, child!" Carla snapped.

"I'm sorry, Carla."

"I swear, you'll drive me to catnip."

"I can't help it!"

"I'm sorry, Wendy. We were all just caught off guard. Rest assured, no offense was meant," Selena said stepping forward.

"Yeah, we're glad to have you aboard, Wendy," Erza said to a now crouched down Wendy.

"Oh, wow. You're Erza and Selena, right? I can't believe it's really you!" Wendy said grinning up at them.

"You're not quite the monster I pictured," Carla said looking up at Erza.

"Surely you've heard of Happy the catmander," Happy said and Selena's eyebrows scrunched together. "Brace yourself because he's right here!" She turned away from him again. "She loves me! This must be destiny!"

"Destined to be rejected. She's totally ignoring you," Lucy replied. Selena ignored those two and turned back to Wendy who was now being flirted with by Hibiki.
