For the entire week of setting up, Selena would take off and meet up with the young man out by the lake. They would talk, play, and laugh. Finally, it was the day that all of the participants would show up for the trials. Selena waited in one of the eight routes that were set for the trial. She drew a medium sized circle around her. It was enough to take one step forward, one step back, and one step to both sides. Selena sat down as she waited. It wasn't long until she sensed someone headed her way. She stood up as Gajeel and Levy walked in.

"We're screwed," Levy groaned and Selena grinned.

"Let me explain to you how this is gonna work. See this circle I'm standing in?" Selena asked and they nodded. "You have to get me fully out of the circle and then you pass."

"That's way too easy," Gajeel replied and Levy looked up at him like he was stupid.

"If it's so easy then come on," Selena replied and Gajeel ran forward.

"Iron Dragon Club!" She ducked as the club extended over her head. She grabbed it and flipped him over her and onto his back. He jumped back up.

"I forgot to mention that I'm not good at holding back. Training with Laxus wasn't easy."

"Huh?!"

"I forgot to mention that her and Laxus used to be on the same team..." Levy said sheepishly.

"Come on. You can't proceed unless you can knock me out of this circle."

"Iron Dragon Roar!" Magic power gathered in his mouth and then shaped into a tornado aimed straight at her. She held up her hand and the air became cold as the roar hit her hand and then froze. She punched it with her other hand which completely shocked Gajeel. "She stopped my roar with one hand and froze it!"

"Gajeel! Selena's expecting us to use our brains not our power," Levy informed.

"That's pretty smart, but I'm wanting you to use both. What kind of strategies can you both think up in the midst of battle?" Selena replied.

"Solid Script: Thunder!" Levy said pointing her fingers in the air, shooting the word thunder. A bolt of thunder hit Selena, but didn't phase her.

"Iron Dragon Sword!" Selena covered her fist in fire as she jumped, dodging Gajeel's sword. She slammed her fist into his face and he went flying as she landed back in her circle.

"Solid Script: Stone!" A stone was thrown at Selena's face. Levy took the chance of Selena not being able to see what she was doing. "Solid Script: Bullet!" Pellets shot at Selena and she knocked them away with her fire coated fist. She glanced behind them when she noticed Gajeel was stationed behind her and Levy was in front of her.

"Iron Dragon Roar!"

"Solid Script: Iron! Followed by Solid Script: Storm!" A powerful wind arose as the word iron in iron appeared above her head. From the side, Gajeel's roar was headed straight at her and she caught the iron and threw it, hitting Gajeel in the stomach, knocking his roar off course causing it to go past her. Dust flew up in the air. "Solid Script: Water!" Water came from ahead of her and she quickly froze it. In that instant, oil seeped under her feet. "Now, Gajeel!"

"Iron Dragon Club!" Selena spun around as she froze the oil and grabbed Gajeel's club. His club turned back into his hand as he pushed Selena back. She slid on the ice and tumbled back. She fell out of her circle with Gajeel on top of her.

"Yay, we did it!" Levy cheered and Selena smiled.

"Okay, you two can advance," she said standing up and dusting off.

"Did we not even damage you?!" Gajeel asked and she shook her head no.

"It takes a lot to damage me. Besides, Levy's attacks were half baked. She didn't want to attack me. The trial will be a lot more difficult than just this," Selena warned as they left. She sighed as she made her way out of the route to head for camp. She messed with the end of her scarf as she walked. She let it go and thought about the last week on Tenrou Island. Emma met up with her half way and they took to the sky to find a good spot to watch the trial.
