I feel cozy while staring at the pure white facility. The hallways are dimly lit with harsh fluorescent lights flickering. There's an eerie silence that hangs in the air, punctuated only by distant muffled sounds of patients crying or talking to themselves.
I found myself in a cold, sterile room. The walls were painted white and had no decorations whatsoever. There was a small bed against one wall with thin blankets that did little to keep out the chill.
There's a sad feeling in the whole area. I keep staring at my hands, resting them on my lap as I think about everything that brought me here. In this cold, sad, empty space of a room.
The other patients walk around slowly, some talking to themselves or others who aren't there. A nurse walks by occasionally, checking on them but mostly leaving them alone. Outside the window, there's a small patch of greenery with trees swaying gently in the breeze.
I see a glimpse of my past flash before my eyes. My heart racing as I remember how it all started, the first time I felt like I was losing control...
"I'm sorry,” I mumbled as my breath became rigid.
I started to panic while looking at the four corners of the room, finding something to calm me down but it seems like it added to my panicking.
“Sino ‘to, bago?”
I heard footsteps following the sound of the door being opened by someone.
I was sitting on the wooden bench, my hands fidgeting as I listened to the boy nurse's mocking words. “Gago malupit ‘yan, mukhang anghel demonyo naman pala.”
The boy laughed as they get inside. My eyes automatically turned to them, nakita ko ang bahagyang pagngisi ng isa habang pinapasadahan ng tingin ang kabuuan ko.
He whistled. “She's hot,”
He leans in closer, his breath hot on my ear as he whispers cruelly, “You know why you're here, don't you?”
“You killed your own mother.” he laughed mockingly and stared at me disgusted.
“Tangina, kahit gaano ako kagalit sa nanay ko hindi ko magagawa ‘yon, tapos ikaw nagawa mo?” he tsked and shakes his head.
I wanted to lash out, to defend myself, but all that came out was a small whimper. My eyes filled with tears as I looked down at my feet, feeling even more ashamed and humiliated.
Why did it have to be like this? Why couldn't people just leave her alone?
I never wanted to do it.. really? Faith, you never wanted it? you killed your own mother and you're supposed to be your brother.
Isa kang baliw.. you deserve to suffer like this.
The memory of that night still haunts me, even though it's been five months since it happened.
I was lost in my thoughts when I heard a voice from behind me. "You killed your own mother.”
My heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. I knew he wasn't supposed to be here, but I couldn't help but feel drawn to him. His words echoed in my mind like a broken CD that always played the same song over and over again.
I turned around slowly, my eyes filled with fear and sadness. "I... I didn't mean to,” I mumbled under my breath as guilt overcame my senses.
"I... I was just so angry," I stammered, my voice barely audible. "I wake up and I realize I shot her.. I just snapped." Tears began to stream down on my face as the memory of that night flashed before my eyes.
