He's been in that bathroom for minutes, maybe half a hour. The urge to check to see if everything is okay is hard to inhibit, but the conversation he had earlier seemed to be personal.
I don't want to intervene.
If he wanted me to know, he would have mentioned it. He hasn't, so I refuse to make it bother me.
That's gonna be my motto from now on. The less information I'm aware of, the better my mental health.
"Mommy, it stopped!" Kiehlani says. She forces for me to take the bottle. "It's finished Lani, a nuh stop it stop."
She nods, taking her ipad and covering herself under her pink sheets. I smile at her. I pour a small cup of 'Julio for myself, search for Netflix and lay comfortably in the space Kevaun and I share.
The episode starts but before I could get invested, Kevaun approaches us. I watch him as he checks on Kiehlani first then comes over to me.
We make eye contact for a brief second before he looks away.
"Ah bwoy." I hear him sigh. I know he thinks I'm gonna ask about the phone call.
"I am not gonna question you, Kevaun. When you're ready to talk, we'll talk. For now we can just watch a movie until we land." I say to him.
"No man, we ago chat. Best I get it out now befo—"
"I think it's best if we wait until we're back home though. I just want to enjoy this trip. I already know too much, more foolishness is not what I need right now." I dismiss him.
"Fuck yuh mean foolishness? Suh me talking to you about my problems a fuckery?" He's taken aback... but I didn't mean what I said in the way he's thinking.
"I didn't mean it like that babe." I really don't want to argue and I really didn't mean it like that.
"Suh weh yuh mean then!?"
I hiss my teeth. He's starting to piss me off with his unnecessary shouting.
"Bomboclaatt yah kiss yuh teeth off a!?" He pulls after me. I quickly dodge his hand.
I look at Kiehlani.
Thank God she's sleeping.
"You need to calm down. Come a grab off a mi like seh mi do yuh sumo." I walk off.
He's following behind me. I enter the last room in the jet. It's better to have this conversation a good distance from Kiehlani.
