Denki Kaminari: Origins

A/N: I've been wanting to make a backstory for Denki and Lily, so here it is.

Years before he joined UA, Denki and his sister with their mom sit in a hospital room, waiting for the doctor to come back. 3rd person.

Denki looks between his sister and his mom, one is excited the other is annoyed. "Can you not sit still for 2 minutes?!" Lily stops bouncing in her seat right away, and Denki glares at their mom for snapping at her just for being excited for her quirk.

A/N: I should probably say, Lily is two years younger than Denki, so Denki is 6 while Lily is 4.

The doctor comes back in a bit after, with a sad expression, "What's my quirk?!" "Well... it seems that... you don't have one. You're quirkless. If there was something I could do, I promise I would, but there isn't" Lily's smile, which wasn't faltered once for the past week, drops and Denki can see tears starting to form at the corners of her eyes, so while giving her a hug, he says that he doesn't care about her not having a quirk, "You're still my little sister, and I promise I will keep you safe" Their mother stands up, and grabs the two by their wrists and walks out of the building, puts them in her car and starts driving home.

"Onii-chan... I'm worried, why does mommy look upset?" "I don't know Lily, I don't know" The rest of the car ride home was silent, and once they got home, the two kids were dragged into their room and the door was closed and locked. "Lily, I need you to promise me something" "What is it Onii-chan?" "Regardless of what happens, don't try anything that could make it worse for us" "But... you're my big brother, what would I do if you get hurt?" "I promise you Lily, I'll be fine" The two hear steps coming up to the door, and their dad walks in, "Denki, Lily. Your mother told me the result of Lily's quirk test, it's bad enough you got your grandmother's quirk, but it's practically useless because of its drawback, but a quirkless daughter too? You two are a disgrace to the Kaminari name" Denki moves Lily to behind him, "I won't let you do anything to her" "Playing hero are we? So be it" Their father lifts Denki by the collar of his shirt, and smacks him, "There is no way you could be a hero with a quirk that useless, and even if you use it against people, you could easily kill them, and then there definitely will be no hope for you"

His father drops him before kicking him on the side of his ribs, and walking out of the room muttering about how useless his kids are. Lily goes over to Denki, "Onii-chan, are you okay?" "I'm fine Lily, don't worry about me" He stands up and pats her on the head, "We just have to prove that our parents are wrong about us"

Years later, Denki is 14 and Lily is 12. Denki POV

My last class of the day ended a few minutes ago, and I'm walking through the halls to go get Lily from class when one of her classmates comes running through the hall at me, "Kaminari! It's your sister, I need your help" "What happened?" "As you know, our teacher is SUPER strict, Lily started packing up when the bell rang, and the guy just flipped out on her, and ultimately said he'd call your parents, and then she started crying and then people started laughing... she's just completely shut down" "Shit, I thought this stopped already. Come on" Me and him make our way to Lily's classroom, and I walk in NOT happy.

"Lily, your brother is here, please just talk to me" No reaction from her, which is normal. I walk over to her and sit down next her, "Lily, it's me. You're okay now" I gently set my hand on her head and pat her head, "Hey, why don't we go get some ice cream before heading home, how's that sound?" "Th-that sounds nice..." "Alright, you just stay here and calm down, I'll have a chat with your teacher" I go to stand up but she grabs my arm, "Please don't... you'll just get in trouble" "As I've said before, I'll be fine Lily" "But..." I gently make her let go, and stand up, before smiling "I promise you, your Onii-chan isn't going anywhere. Kuro, right?" "Yeah" "Stay with her, and thank you for being her friend" "Of course! I'm the only one apart from you who even cares about her here" I nod and walk over to Lily's teacher.
