Visenya ducked when another blast of fire shot through the skies above her. Vermithor let out a warning call, flapping his wings before dipping himself down from the clouds. Vhagar had started to trial them, blowing off a surge of heat whenever she were to get close enough.
The dragon was careful not to actually harm her, considering its rider was strapped to her back like a shield, but she was doing her best to try and harm Vermithor in any way possible.
The princess squinted against the harsh winds that blew past them as they flew, tightening her hold on the saddle. Her wounds were still bleeding but she no longer felt the pain that came with it. She was too high on adrenaline to even comprehend the red that now started to drip onto her dragon's back.
As aggressive as Vhagar could be, she wouldn't be too quick as to send her rider to his death. Not after having recently lost her own.
"Turn left!" Visenya yelled out above the winds just as Vhagar snapped her jaws near the area where her dragon's tail continued to swing.
Vermithor obeyed, swerving left and letting out a growl, making his desires to fight back known to his rider.
"Almost, Vermithor, we're close." The princess answered his growls. Even on a dragon as big as he, the Queen of dragons still outsized them by many. If she were to engage her in a fight Visenya wanted to create an opportunity where she's most likely to win.
Bright white strikes of lightning ran through the clouds as the two dragons soared through the skies, Vhagar letting out a frustrated roar that mirrored the thunder and Visenya felt the fear shake in her chest. She lowered herself even more, gripping the handles when her surroundings had started to morph into her haunting past.
If she listened closely, she could still hear Arrax's frightful squeal as he turned on his belly, protecting her from harm.
"Come on, come on." She whispered to herself, anxiously watching the space before her as Vhagar got closer and closer to her back.
There was one place where she'd be able to use her surroundings to her advantage.
Vermithor let out a snare when fire continued to burst forth, hitting one of his wings and brushing past her skin. The princess cried out, pulling on her reign as the dragon leaned onto the side to avoid the majority of Vhagar's flames.
He quickened his pace, neck swinging in annoyance as his large wings flapped against the air, it's sounds clear even above the winds and at once the two of them started to descend from the clouds.
Just as the first drops of rain started to fall on her skin the tip of a tower became visible amongst the darkness of the night, lit by many candles inside its walls. Visenya felt a rush of excitement tore through her as Storms End came into sight.
At this time, the whole city were still sound asleep, oblivious to its looming dangers. Without needing her to speak Vermithor swerved downwards towards the sea before Storms Edge, dodging yet another shot of fire from the dragon who roared out in anger behind.
The rain above them doubled as they reached the sea, his red tail splashing against the surface of the waters as his wings cause ripples through the waves just by soaring above it. Her servant attire were becoming drenched with rain, sticking to her skin and washing the redness that had dripped onto her saddle though Visenya paid no mind.
The princess was scared, anxious and excited all in one.
"Fly high, Vermithor!" She called out in the storm and her dragon answered with a growl, batting his wings with strength she'd never deem to possess. The red dragon angled itself up towards the sky, flying right against the rocks of Storms End before its entire body surged over the castle.
