Scale Number: 1
Kalayavan balanced Caterina's plate in one hand, gripping a glass of juice in the other. Hoping that with a full stomach, she would be more compliant when he told her what was going on. Although there was also the chance he would have to hold her hair back as she brought up everything he'd just fed her.
He knew he'd taken far too long downstairs, his woman was probably ravenous with hunger. But he had to make sure he and Hunter were on the same page when it came to her safety. And as long as Kal didn't try anything 'stupid' like escape with her, then there wouldn't be any threat to her life.
Which also meant it was time that she knew the truth, that way she knew exactly what she would be stuck with until he returned for her. Convinced that the Relevent had no sexual motivation, the only thing he was going to focus on was their plan to get him back into Headquarters where he would kill the Elders.
Which was all the rogue Sepireer could see at the end of his tunnel vision. A bright loathing igniting at the mention of the Table, burning intensely with the urge for revenge.
For what, Kal wasn't sure yet. Not like it was something Hunter had disclosed; hell, he'd killed Christopher for revealing his name. It was clear he was a very private person.
It had taken so long to agree on anything that he was sure his poor pet was likely made with boredom already as she'd been cooped up in the bedroom all morning. Pausing at the door, he composed himself before calling out for her to come let him back in. When there was no answer, or sound of movement, he shifted the plate carefully so that he could knock loudly in case he was in the bathroom and hadn't heard him. But the first time his knuckles came in contact with the wood, it nudged open.
For the first time, praying she hadn't listened to him, and just forgot to lock up behind him. Ready to bed her over his knee as he pushed it open the rest of the way.
"Because I took so long, I won't yell at you for the door, pet," he started to say before even getting all the way into the room. When he looked around, he found the place deserted; his woman was nowhere in sight. "Caterina?"
He sat her plate of food and drink down on the nightstand, then began searching for her, despite the fact that there wasn't really a place for her to hide from him in such a small area. First, checking the bathroom, then the walk in closet, it was only as he was coming out that he spotted a note that was sitting on top of the pillow he'd used. His name was scrawled across it in her handwriting, a microscopic fact that did little to soothe conclusions he was jumping to.
Had Hunter sent someone up to grab her while he'd been keeping Kal occupied downstairs? Or was the family retaliating for the death of the Don being buried in the backyard? Even worse, had the Table come for her?
Once his eyes danced over the words, his crinkled around the soft paper and a harsh breath escaped his nose. How was he supposed to believe she would be careful when she couldn't keep her promise to stay put? When was she going to learn to listen to him? He should have known this was why Sophia had been so willing to be dismissed earlier. The poor, bored child would do anything for a bit of excitement; including cross one of the terrifying assassins who were currently being hosted under her roof.
Tossing the crumpled note aside, Kalayavan stormed back out the way he'd come. Just thinking about what he was going to do to Caterina made the beast rile inside his chest. Consequently causing his member to jerk alive in his pants. The girl would be lucky if she would be able to sit the entire time he was gone, the stink of her ass reminding her who she should have listened to. Who she would learn to obey without question, but first he had to find her. And so help the gods if she was anywhere near the other Sepireer who was wandering around the estate.
