Cat was staring down at her hands, which were folded in her lap. Her thumbs occasionally stretched out to rub against the area of the shirt that covered her flat stomach. She was waiting for the ER doctor to come back in with her test results. Although she was about to go looking for the man if Hunter didn't shut up soon. He'd started making comments ever since she insisted she wanted a pregnancy test to confirm his accusation.

"Why not listen to the one who knows who he's talking about?" Talking to himself like there was no one else in the room. "But noooo," he bawled dramatically, snapping his head in her direction. "She doesn't want to listen to a mortal doctor who doesn't know anything about our people."

A soft knock on the door made him snap his mouth shut, as it swung open. Revealing a man in his late forties, wearing a white jacket, who stepped inside and closed it behind him. "Congratulations to the lovely couple," he smiled down at her after reading over her chart quickly. His smile forced her to punch her brows together, as he specified more clearly, as if she wasn't understanding him. "It would in fact appear you're pregnant, Mrs. Johnson."

Cat's mouth dropped open, before snapping it closed. Shaking her head and refusing to look in Hunter's direction, already able to see his smug expression from around the physician. "There has to be some kind of mistake," she slowly slid from the table so she was standing right beside it. "That's impossible," even if Kal hadn't told her it was impossible for them to procreate, which he could have lied about, like many other things. She took High School biology, so if she was carrying his child, she could have only been inseminated less than a week ago.

No test could detect this early.

Unless...

She felt all the color drain from her face, what if it wasn't Kal's? What if it was Jessie's? It had been plenty of time, and it was more likely. Not that she had paid attention if he'd actually reached his end, she'd been too hysterical.

Her reaction caused two separate reactions; where Hunter looked offended by her disgust, probably thinking she hated the idea of carrying a future Relevent. While the human man looked over at the man who looked several years younger than him, looking confused. Then flipped through the papers on the clipboard again, back and forth a couple of times. "No," he returned his eyes to her, "If you're," looking down again for a moment, checking something, "Jessica Johnson, there is no mistake. If you would like, I can have an OB nurse come in and do an ultrasound to figure out just how far along you are?"

Looking over at Hunter, who was shaking his head. If all of this was true, she figured it wouldn't be the best to allow a human to go looking at her supernatural fetus. Mirroring his action, her gaze only returned to the doctor long enough to thank him. "I think I'd just like to go home, but thank you..." she looked at his name tag, "Dr. Wells."

Dr. Wells turned just enough to look at her company with suspicion, then back at her thoughtfully. "Oh course, Mr. Clade, if you would come with me..." Turning to face her babysitter fully, he was unable to finish.

"We are not married," Hunter was quick to cut him off with a hard tone.

"My apologies, Sir, if you would just come with me so we can go over some things," he held the door open and made it clear he wasn't about to leave without the other male.

The assassin looked like he was going to argue, or made a scene, then thought better of it. Looking at Cat long enough to tell her, "Stay," earning him a look from Wells, one that said he was more than happy to escort Hunter from the building himself. Although it wouldn't be a smart idea on his part.

Walking out, Wells closed the door behind him with a soft smile, congratulations again.

Once they were gone, she slumped back against the gurney bed, looking down at her abdomen. There was a baby in there. After all the years her and Greg tried, after how many tears shed, and now there was a chance... She didn't want to travel down a dark thought path, lingering on the pleasant thought that Kal had been the one to inseminate her.
