Cat looked over at the man like he'd up and morphed into some five headed lizard with wings. Her lips were slightly parted, staring at him like he was the Collatz Conjecture. The most difficult math equation in the world. She seemed incapable of speech, just staring like she was incapable of processing the image in front of her eyes. Although he wasn't sure what other reaction he would have expected her to have, as he just explained something that could in fact turn someone's world around. Doing his best to explain everything about his world, or at least the things she needed to know presently.

Save for the largest secret he had still, the facts of how he found her exactly. Not something he was willing to let happen, nothing would matter at that point, she would definitely leave. Hell, he was still unsure if she was going to try to do that now or now. Like he would willingly let her, but she would make trouble for him if he had to constantly be watching her.

"Caterina," he cautiously lowered himself so he was crouching in front of where she was sitting. In the chair they'd used the night before, thoughts he didn't need to be having that second. His human just blinked down at him, not really seeing him as she looked at the floor in front of her. "Say something, your silence is killing me."

No pun intended.

Blinking a couple more times as she attempted to gather her thoughts, "I was right," she finally said. When his brows came together in confusion, she elaborated, "I knew you couldn't be normal."

Kalayavan had to suppress a chuckle at the reminder of her multitude of theories, not wanting her to think he was laughing at her. "Yes, I suppose, in a way you were."

"Normal people aren't born to become killers," her answer is immediate and serious, cutting straight to the bone. "You're a murderer, Kal, there is no other way to say it."

This time it was his face that turned to stone, using his own hardened tone, "I'm no murderer by your human definition, kitten. The unlawful, premeditated killing of one human by another." His eyes dropped to watch her throat when she swallowed,, trying to clear away the lump that was no doubt forming there. "I am not human, so therefore, not a murder." He also didn't take on contracts against the innocent, mostly because his Nerader must have known that and never once assigned him one.

Although before Caterina, if she would have delivered a name to him, he would have somehow managed to complete the assignment without lingering on the guilt.

He had been paid to take their lives, it was his job.

Humans killed just to kill, so who was the real monster in this scenario?

Her mouth snapped closed when her argument died on her tongue, her jaw clenching tight. Like a teenager who would wait until they're in their room before swearing and cursing their parent's name.

"The sooner you come to terms with this, the faster we can move on," he tried to keep the pain out of his words, not wanting to admit her unwillingness to accept him instantly.

Caterina's brow twitched, the thought of moving forward with him in her life made her hesitate before responding. Even then the wire between her brain and mouth seemed to be malfunctioning. "How am I supposed to accept that I..." her eyes widened ever so slightly, remembering in vivid detail the events of the last several days. "That we... Oh my god, I let you... More than once..." her hand came up to her mouth, covering it with her fingers, this time her eyes becoming as big as dinner saucers. "You didn't wear a condom." The other hand shot to her stomach, "Can you get a human pregnant? Am I carrying a tiny future serial killer?"

Did the thought sicken her? He wasn't sure he wanted to know the answer to that, "Not that I am aware." His answer is cool, not liking that she will be reluctant when carrying his child. But Relevents could only reproduce during the Kepling, and with other Relevents, or at least that was what the records declared. A significant event like one of them going off menu for reproductions, that would have made its way into their history books
