I look up just to see Vicky who falls around my neck as soon as I looked her in the eyes.
‘It’s okay,’ she tells me.
Then she takes me by my hand and starts walking.
‘Come on. Let’s go home,’ Vicky says.
A few minutes later, we’re sitting on the floor in Vicky’s room.
She somehow managed to get passed her mum without her noticing that I am crying. Vicky then made two cups of hot chocolate, one for her and one for me, which we’re sipping right now.
Vicky starts a conversation by saying,’ Are you feeling a little bit better?’
I’m not sure what to answer so I just nod slowly.
‘I really don’t want to make it worse again but: Do you want to tell me what happened?,’ she asks then which is a taff question again. But as she is so nice to me at the moment and she is my best friend, she should know what’s going on.
After telling her the whole story not without a few tears Vicky says angrily,’ He didn’t do that!’
‘Yes, he did,’ I repeat and then start sobbing again.
‘How can he be so stupid to say in your face that he doesn’t love you but hope for a continuing friendship at the same time? You know what?’
I look up.
‘You should forget him.’ I can see that Vicky is very serious about this and wants me to agree with her.
‘But I love him,’ I answer instead.
‘Yeah, you do but there is no future for you two.’
I know she didn’t want to be mean by saying that but I can’t help crying again.
‘I’m sorry, Jean,’ Vicky states as she realised that she made it worse,’ But that’s what you should do: Forget him.’ She repeats even knowing that this is not what I want to hear.
‘You’re probably right.’ I realise that Vicky won’t be happy with another answer from me.
