Today I am going to meet Vicky with a bunch of friends of her in town. She persuaded me to go yesterday. She said she wants to distract me from Darin because it’s not good if I think about him the whole time.
So I agreed. Why not if it makes me happier? I cried for the whole last night and it wasn’t very enjoyable.
At half one I am standing in front of a café in town with Vicky waiting for her friends.
A few minutes later a group of boys and girls turns up around the corner. They come closer.
Suddenly Vicky shouts ‘What is he doing here?’ I look at the group and I can see at first sight who she means.
Darin is standing in the middle of the group.
A guy, who is called Mark, steps out of the crowd to answer Vicky’s ‘question’. ‘Do you have a problem with Darin? I thought you know each other from school,’ he says.
‘Didn’t I talk to you on the phone yesterday which should have made clear that Darin is not invited to come today?’
An embarrassing silence follows.
I look at Darin. He looks at me. ‘Hi!’ ‘Hi,’ he answers.
Vicky looks over to me and fortunately she seems to understand that I don’t want to have a big scene right here but want to act normal instead. She gives Mark one last angry glance. Then she starts to talk about school stuff and we enter the café.
