"And then, I hit her and she was like- she screamed so hard." Miran tried to speak properly in between her laughs. "She screamed like-" She screamed in a high-pitched voice.
Wonwoo nodded while listening to her speak.
"I'm telling you. Eunseo is VERY funny whenever she screams." She made different gestures with her hands as she talked about how she scared one of their friends when they were watching a horror movie.
"Is that so? That's funny." Wonwoo swirled the chopsticks into the noodles bowl.
"A lot!" Miran slammed her hand on the table. "I wish I had clicked the picture of her because I really want to show you."
"Won't she have a problem?" He tilted his head.
"Nope." She shook her head and grabbed her drink can. "For her, social anxiety? What's that? If you ever hear a scream from our building, it's definitely her."
"No wonder you are friends with them." Wonwoo shook his head before putting his elbow on the table and leaning on his hand. The black cat bracelet dangled on his wrist.
"Yes but seriously, we are all different yet the same at the same time." She giggled while taking a sip of her milkshake. "I'm so glad I have them. They helped me a lot here as a foreigner."
"What about me?" He squinted his eyes.
"You are useless."
"I think you meant to say 'useful', right?"
"No." She shook her head but groaned when he hit her leg from under the table. "That hurt!"
"Who cares." He scoffed.
"Wait, Hyunmi is calling me." She held a finger up as she looked down at her phone. "I'll be right back." She stood up and held her phone near her ear as she walked away.
His eyes landed on the parrot phone charm hanging on her phone. He took out his phone and started using it. The Peppa Pig phone charm rested on the back of his hand as he typed.
"I'm back. Sorry." She sat back on the chair and grabbed her noodles. It was almost 9 pm but they were sitting in a convenience store and eating cup noodles with soft drinks.
"It's okay." He shook his head and put his phone down. "What did she say?"
"She got free from her boyfriend and is coming to pick me up." Miran grabbed the bowl to finish the last bite of the noodles.
"I should also go now." Wonwoo wiped his lips with his thumb before licking the thumb. Miran was staring at his face but looked down when he looked at her.
"I'm also done." She grabbed the tissue paper to wipe her lips and stood up.
"Do you want to go to a movie?" He also stood up and collected his things.
"Aren't you too busy for a movie?" She squinted her eyes with a smirk as she grabbed her bag. "You always rejected my offers."
"I was free the day after tomorrow." He shrugged and walked to the counter to pay.
"I'm going to pay since I invited you- wait! Jeon Wonwoo." She hesitantly grabbed her books and ran to him.
"You think I'll let a broke college student as someone who has a job, especially as a man?" He rolled his eyes.
"That's such a cheesy thing to say." She crossed her arms and also rolled her eyes.
"Let's go." He grabbed his card back and both of them walked out of the store. "But what were you doing this late here?"
"Hm?" Miran was busy putting her books back in her bag.
"Here." Wonwoo grabbed her bag and opened it.
"Thanks." She easily put her things inside before closing the zip.
"I'll hold onto it." He pulled the bag away and hung it on his right shoulder. She shrugged and put her hands behind her back.
"Well, I was supposed to be with Hyunmi but her boyfriend suddenly called her. I was alone and texted you. Surprisingly, you appeared."
"Well, I was staying at a friend's house. His house is nearby. I wasn't going to come until you mentioned you are alone." He grabbed the bag strap and put his other hand in his pocket.
"Did you take his car?" She looked up at him as she walked beside him. Their arms were brushing against each other as they slowly walked while talking.
"Maybe." He pouted his lips and tilted his head.
"Well, Hyunmi wasn't going to leave me alone but her boyfriend seemed to be angry for some reason." She looked down with a sad expression.
He turned to her and stared at her face. It was his first time seeing her showing an actual sad expression. All the ones he had witnessed were fake sadness because she never stopped smiling.
"I hope everything will be alright." She sighed.
"It will be." He gently nudged her arm with his elbow. "Let's not be sad. What do you think of the movie?"
"Oh, I actually have a date day after tomorrow." When she said that, he stopped walking. She stopped and looked back at him. "Jeon Wonwoo?"
"You got a date?" He blinked a surprise.
"Yes?" She said with a confused smile.
"Why didn't you tell me?" He crossed his arms.
"Well, actually." She scratched her head. "I have been getting a lot of men asking for my number whenever I'm at work or university but I rejected every one. It was kind of frustrating because of the amount of people I rejected."
"Then?"
"Then I gave in to one of them and said yes." She shrugged. "I'm going on a date with him the day after tomorrow."
"Park Miran-"
"Hyunmi?!" She shouted when her eyes landed on the girl behind Wonwoo. Wonwoo quickly wore his mask.
"Miran?" Hyunmi called out the girl.
"Why are you crying?!" Miran went to Wonwoo and grabbed her bag. "I'm sorry, I have to go."
"Bye." He nodded and let her pull her bag away from him.
"What happened??" Miran ran to Hyunmi who had covered her face while bawling her eyes out when Miran reached near her.
Wonwoo pulled down his hood and walked away, feeling sad. The amount of times Miran had asked him for a movie was almost countless.
When he finally got time from his schedule, she got a date with another man?
He sighed while sitting in the car, surely not feeling his heart clinching from some unknown yet familiar emotions.
How long has it been since he felt them again?
