So, hi everyone. This is the first chapter from Charlotte's POV. So I just wanna tell you a little about her. She is born and raised in the Capitol, and she is neutral about how she feels about the more elite. She has one younger sister who's 9 and her family is pretty well of. She lives in a bungalow, and has many neighbors. Her personality is sassy, sarcastic, and tricky. However, if she trusts someone, she will be pretty loyal unless under dire circumstances. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Charlotte's POV

Today's the Reaping, the day I have been dreading for a month. Ever since Katniss Everdeen and the rebels killed President Snow, they've been planning a Capitol Hunger Games. They started by dividing up the Capitol into 12 parts so that 1 boy and 1 girl could be drawn.

My community is District 2, and if I get in, I might have a good chance of winning. I am good with traps, snakes, and poison, so if I manage my luck just right, I might be able to outlast the others and finish off some with tricks, deadly fatal tricks. My only drawback is I'm small and not a fighter.

Of course, this all depends on my opponents.

Now, the whole of "District 2" is located in front of a huge TV. It's hot outside... or maybe it's 'cuz Mother made me wear a dress, either way, I'm glad it's not too hot or cold or else the Games would last for only like a day!

Either way, I don't want this to happen... though if I was in Katniss's place, I would do it too. So, can't judge.

Suddenly a big gong sounds and I look around to see where it came from and see some boys wearing suits. I snicker, guess they wanted to look good before they DIED! I'll never understand boys...

And then everyone fell silent, now instead of hearing a pin drop, you could hear one from District 13. I stopped turning and looked back to the stage, Katniss Everdeen in her Mockingjay costume came out to the center of the camera and started talking; wait, how was her voice so loud?

I focused on where she was leaning down and saw a black thing, I guess they arranged a mic for The Mockingjay. I realized I was leaning forward and quickly stood back into the crowd and tried to focus on what the Mockinjay was saying.

"... probably don't want to participate in the Games that you created, seeing it as a form of entertainment. But today, your children will be Reaped to enter and probably not survive. So, with no further ado, let us begin with the Reaping of the 76th Hunger Games!"

Oh finally, I mean Katniss, do we have to do this whole thing? Anyway, I probably won't even get picked. So I hitched up my skirt and shoved my way to the front, to see who would be called. A man wearing a black suit with a Mockingbird pin on his right shoulder walked out holding a glass bowl filled with slips of paper, 2 of them with my name written on it. He started talking with a booming voice,

" Well, now that Katniss's speech is over, it's time to pick our Tributes, isn't it?" He reached inside what I personally think is a former fishbowl. "Let's start with the females, hm? So, our female tribute is Charlotte!"

I probably should have done something, but even my practical mind had blanked out; I just stared at the man. My mind registered people letting out sighs of relief that they weren't picked, and then people started pointing at me. Someone behind shoved me forward and I came back to my senses.

I turned around, glared at the crowd, smoothed my skirt and royally strutted up to the stage, curtsied an elaborate bow my friend had taught me years ago, and blew the crowd a kiss. Suddenly, PeaceKeepers grabbed my arms and yanked me back. I gave one last wink to the crowd before going back to my designated spot; the man put his hand back into the former goldfish bowl and called out a name... "Casimir!" I look around for the potential ally, I mean we are from the same district, so we'll see.

A boy who looks burly stumbles onto the stage, but then regains his composure and casually walks onto the stage and to his spot.

The representative from the rebels started talking again "Now, the Tributes are ready and the rest of you guys are free."

He waved to the crowd and the curtains of the stage shut. The other Peacekeepers start herding the people toward the exit. As for us, the District 2 Tributes, the Peacekeepers escorted us to our houses to pack. I lost sight of Casimir and taking a turn and continued on to my house.

I didn't take much, just a bag I had filled months ago and turned to the Peacekeeper who followed me and said "Let's go" with a grin.

30 minutes later, we met up with Casimir. They pair of Peacekeepers loaded us onto a train car together. It had a little food and water, and a couple of books. They made sure we could not get out of the car and then left.

As the doors clanged shut, a thought struck me, they had not talked the entire time; maybe they were Avoxes? Anyway, I knew the Capitol was 45-ish minutes away. So I decided to take a nap, and hope not to die.
