Devaki Rajadhyaksh was a woman of substance. She often enjoyed working in solitude, and often picked the Cases that intrigued her. Coming from an influential Family, Devaki wanted to make her name in the world of Law, wanting to do something different from her Siblings who were already settled in their respective Careers.
When Devaki got to know about the case of Her Late Highness of Jaipur from her Mentor Govind Tripathi. This case caught Devaki's interest because not only it turned out to be a murder than an accident, with two influential families such as Rajawats and Duhaans right in center. She knew it was going to be messy and-
Devaki Rajadhyaksh loves playing with fire.
That's why the said Barrister calmly sipped her coffee, her eyes casually darting towards the door as she awaited her companion in the Cabin of Cafe Brews. Well, she was thankful that she didn't had to wait longer.
The sturdy Duhaan Princess strolled inside the Cabin soon, her long skirt fluttering with wind and took a seat in front of Devaki, crossing her left leg on right one and resting her arms on the armrest. Devaki calmly raised her hand and pressed the call button.
The Waiter entered and she quickly gave him orders, the door clicking shut once the waiter was out. "So Ms Rajadhyaksh, why did you called me?" She asked, her sharp hazel eyes trained on Devaki.
Devaki smiled and completed her coffee, slipping her hand inside her Bag and took out her iPad. "I wanted to ask you about something, or someone. I hope you won't mind, Miss Alisha Duhaan." Devaki smiled amused at her.
Alisha scoffed. "What do you want to know?" She asked. As much as Alisha was worried about her dear Brother and Father, she knew how to hold her commanding presence. And right now, she was definitely not going to show her vulnerability to Devaki.
"What was the relationship between Chaitanya Duhaan and Apoorva Rajawat?"
Devaki's question made Alisha forget breathing momentarily.
Devaki immediately knew that something was well hidden from the world when Alisha's eyes widened for a miniscule of second, her trained eyes catching that fleeting moment.
"What the hell do you mean by that?" Alisha growled, for real.
Devaki leaned back, amused by how defensive Alisha got. "You heard it right, Miss Duhaan. Remember that I am a Advocate. I have to gather evidences." She said and leaned ahead. "This will be a help to both you and me. If your Father and Brother are as innocent as they show the world, you have to help me prove that. You have to tell me the relationship between Chaitanya and Apoorva." Devaki said.
Alisha quietly studied the barrister in front of her, her palm still enclosed tightly to keep her fury in check. Devaki seemed genuine. She genuinely wanted to know the story behind that, but Alisha had promised her precious Bhai sa to never tell about this to anyone. She didn't knew whether to trust Devaki or not, she was complicated.
On one hand, there was Advocate Devaki, a seasoned lawyer known for her integrity and sharp intellect. Alisha had seen her in action, dismantling complex cases with a finesse that inspired both awe and fear. Devaki had a reputation for getting to the truth, but at what cost? Could Alisha trust her with the delicate and potentially explosive details of Chaitanya's past with Apoorva?
Apoorva was dead, her tragic end still a fresh wound in the lives of those who knew her. Chaitanya, Alisha's brother, was now in jail, accused of a crime that had shattered their family. The promise Alisha had made to him echoed in her mind: she had sworn to protect his secrets, to keep the truth from coming to light. It was a promise born out of sibling loyalty, but it also felt like a chain around her neck, growing heavier with each passing day.
