First Experiment

"Phew, I finally have some materials." Jack raised his bag of odd materials and threw a satisfied look.

"Doc, what are you going to do with those?" It was an odd combination of amalgamation that even the smartest people wouldn't know the purpose.

The bag was full of things like bike chains, metal plates, some kind of circuit board, different kinds of wires, an adapter and for some reason, a box of pasta noodles.

"Don't worry about it. You'll see later." He had some kind of smile that felt kinda off.

"Doc, if it's another prank-"

"No, no it's not. This machine will be important. I swear."

"Alright, we'll leave you to it." His bodyguards went outside to give him some privacy.

After 2 hours, loud, whirring noises are heard inside the office, paired with a hysterical laughter that would creep out anyone in the hallway.

James couldn't help but knock on the door. "Doctor, are you alright?" The noises came to a halt, followed by the sudden sound of the door opening.

"Check this bad boy out!" Jack grinned widely, glaring at his new homemade chainsaw made out of pasta noodles. Both guards stared in utter shock as it whirred loudly.

"Do-Doctor, is that a chainsaw?"

"IT'S MADE OUT OF PASTA NOODLES!"

"Amazing, right?" The two had their mouths wide open in disbelief.

"What's with the commotion?" Doctor Lebardy walked towards them with documents in hand.

"Doc, it's a chainsaw! Made out of pasta noodles!" Daniel was freaking out.

"Is this made by you? Impressive!" He looked stoic on the outside, but he was shook to the core at the inside.

"I guess it's impressive, but this is a bit weaker than an actual one." He tested the machine again.

"Although, such harmful things aren't allowed in the establishment. I'll forgive you this one time since you're new, but please hide it and never pull it out again."

"Oh, what a bummer." He was utterly disappointed.

"By the way, these will be your first assignment from the higher ups themselves. Please make sure to read it carefully." He gave Jack a white folder consisting of the details.

"Before you leave, I wanna ask something."

"What is it?" Jack leaned closer to Lebardy's ear.

"Is it true that you're gonna be one of the higher ups?" He covered his mouth to prevent the soldiers from reading it.

Lebardy did the same action. "I know that you have a higher clearance than me, so I'll be telling you the truth. No, the rumors aren't true. I'm nothing but an errand boy for them. Especially after what happened to Branch 53." He moved away and sighed heavily.

"I see." Jack nodded.

"I'll get going then. Good luck with your first test!"

"Thanks!" He headed back inside, hid the chainsaw inside the drawer of his table and sat down, opening the white folder.

Inside was information of two SCPs that he had encountered before, namely SCP-079 and SCP-5094. But in this world, they were named SCP-009 and SCP-100 respectively.

"These two being in the same room together. Even I have never thought about this before. I wonder what will happen." He took out his notepad and wrote what he expected out of the experiment.

From what I remember, SCP-009 is an AI that refuses to work together with the doctors. Meanwhile, SCP-100, or Miss J, is a teacher that can practically teach anything. Since 009 is just another sentient being, it will follow Miss J as long as she only teaches the lessons we give her. Keep in mind, the drawback would be that 009 would be able to learn more and the worst case scenario, it will be released to the world and cause chaos.

He brainstormed for lessons that can make 009 obey, while also keeping it contained.

After a while, he rested his chin on his free hand and stared at the paper. Shit, shit, I can't procrastinate now. I need this done by tomorrow before I fly to Canada! He ruffled his hair and took a deep breath before continuing his work.

Alright, the lessons are done. Now I have to think of safety protocols, teams that I should hire, soldier formations in case something goes wrong, Plan B, etcetera etcetera. "Daniel, James? I have something to ask for a minute." Both guards went inside.

"Doc, is there something wrong?"

"I just wanna know, which team is in charge of handling technology?" He asked, not breaking eye contact with the notepad.

"Oh, both DTF and MTF are experts with technology. Since technology was created with anomalies in mind, we don't really need to do much work. Each gadget can block any kind of technical and data anomalies, so they're the easiest to contain." James explained, not really knowing what's going on but tried his best to provide information.

"I see." He scribbled away. "Do you happen to know how it works exactly?"

"Actually, not really. All we know is that once a data anomaly appears, they're stuck on one device forever with the help of some kind of filter, right Daniel?"

"Yeah, yes Doc."

"A filter, you say. Is it physical or not?"

"I'm pretty sure it's both. You put one of those filters inside and it does the rest for you."

"I see. Thanks for answering." He went back to scribbling away. "This experiment is light work. No need to stress over. I just need the whole team tomorrow with your usual formation." He placed his pen away and took a sip of his coffee, taking a bite out of his croissant after. "Oh yeah, what happened to Branch 53 before? Why is it swarming with MTFs?"

"Branch 53? Honestly, we're wondering the same thing too." James looked at Daniel as he roped him into this.

He looked hesitant before answering. "Uhh yeah, we do. No one really knows what happened. We asked some of the MTFs there, and they said they don't know what happened either. They're just ordered to patrol around the area."

"I see. So you guys gossip in your quarters."

"Errr uhmmmm, uhhh."

"Has Pedro and Pietro told you about Avery?"

"We uhhh, we definitely don't know." Daniel averted his gaze somewhere else, whereas James elbowed him. "Fine. Since the four of us work as a team, we are required to open our microphones all the time."

"How about the rest of the DTF? Do they hear this?"

"No, but we do leave a record of our conversation each week in the database. Don't worry though, only the higher ups open the database so the secret is sealed."

"Hmmm." Did the higher ups already know about Avery? Is that why they gave her a Level 6 clearance?

"Thanks boys, I kinda feel sleepy now. I'm going to my room." He stretched his arms and yawned.

"Doc, it's 10 pm now. Most staff are already asleep, and we're about to change shifts with the twins."

"What? It took me that long? Shoot, there goes my "waking up early and well-rested" plans. I need to focus tomorrow."

"Doc, if you want, you can drink some sleep supplement pills. I have some here in my pocket."

"That actually exists? Oh what a relief. Is this something that I can just buy in the pharmacy?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, you can keep yours. I'll just buy one tomorrow." And with that, they headed back to his room so he could sleep.
