Chapter 12: Into the Light

Nori made her way to Sanguine Cove. She went there to visit her mother's grave. Walking through the hall of past sanguinis. She saw her mother and softly touched her picture on the stone wall. Her fingertips were cold as she traced her mother's picture. She started to remember when her mother gifted her powers. Her head turned as she heard footsteps. She slowly pulled out her daggers. Slowly walking towards the exit and man with a familiar aura appeared. She put her dagger down when she saw it was the man who gave her the flower in the Vast Isles. She lowered the daggers. The man tilted his head.

"It's you."

Koda nodded his head.

"Did you follow me here?" Nori asked

Koda nodded his head.

"Why?"

Koda just stood there. Nori picked up on Koda doesn't talk.

"Do you talk?"

Koda just stood there. Nori sighed.

"Well if you want to follow me you walk next to me. I don't bite."

Koda put a thumbs up and cheerfully tilted his head. Nori chuckled a bit. They walked out of the hall.

"Well I'm staying at the inn, do you have a place to stay?"

Koda shook his no.

"I'm sure they will have an open room for you."

Koda looked at her and continued following her. Nori wasn't sure about Koda but felt something when she was around him. Koda grabbed her hand and held it tight. Nori didn't know how to react but let it be.

"Why did you follow me?"

Koda tilted his head. He pulled out a sword and started writing on the ground. Nori read the message.

"I want to learn more about you." The message read.

"Can you talk?"

Koda wrote a message on the ground that read "Yes but I'm too shy to talk."

When they reached the hotel Nori was staying in, they found out there weren't any open rooms left. Nori told Kuda he could stay in her room. Kuda was happy. They walked to her room. Nori told Kuda since there is an extra bed he can sleep in that. Kuda was fine with that. Nori heard Kuda's stomach rumble. She chuckled to herself.

"Are you hungry?"

Koda nodded.

"I'll make us some dinner."

Koda nodded again. Nori chuckled and went to the kitchen. Kuda followed her.

"You are very interesting."

Koda cheered and Nori just chuckled. Nori continued to make dinner. Koda watched her cook and felt a shift in her posture. He walked over and checked. He saw her eyes water. He wiped the tear that was falling down her cheek.

"I'm making something my mother for me before she passed."

Koda felt like he had to say something.

"What happened?" Koda whispered.

Nori was shocked but continued.

"My mother was killed, by my ex. My father had an infection. The infection turned him crazy, and he attacked us. He nearly killed my brother, but we had to put my father down."

Nori put the cooking utensils down and Koda held her tight.

"My mother used her blood to heal my brother. Corin then became possessed and attacked my mother. I tried to stop her, but she nearly killed me. My mother crawled to me giving her life to me. The last thing I saw was her stealing my father's ring and leaving the house."

"I'm sorry you went through that."

"Thanks. She came back into my life to stop the king, but I see the ring on her finger every time I see her. I think she does it to remind me, but I want my revenge."

"I will help you with your revenge," Koda said

"Why?"

"I want to help the girl; I like and want to protect."

"Why me?" Nori asked softly

"Because I want to."

"Okay."

"Where do we start?" Koda asked.

"We need a plan, but first we find the Prince."

"The Prince?"

"Yes."

"Why him?"

"He knows something and we going find out what he knows."

"I see. He's in his homeland."

"How do you know that?"

"I'm one of his spies."

"What?!"

"Not like that. He tasked me to follow everyone, but I wanted to follow you because you are interesting. I see potential in you to be a great ally to him."

"I see. What about my brother?"

"He is safe, but I can't disclose his location."

"Why not?"

"Protection purposes."

"Whatever."

"I can take you to the prince."

"Good."

"He might be mad."

"I don't care I need information."

"You come to join me and my cause?"

"Yes."

"Good."

"I'm glad to serve you."

"Good, I will use you well."

"You look like a King."

The male smiled a bit.

"Thank you, but I want the real throne."

"You will, soon."

"Hopefully."

She was worried about bringing something up.

"Something on your mind mother?"

"Yes. I was wondering about something."

"What is that?"

"Do you think he will find us?"

"No."

"How are you certain?"

"His link to me has been gone for a while."

"Since when?"

"Since I was nine."
