Chapter 14: Death in the family

Nathan was training, while Valaine was making them dinner. Nathan was trying to enhance his Telekinesis. He wanted to pick up more things. Valaine walked out to the backyard.

"Dinner is ready."

Nathan smiled and walked over to his girlfriend.

"I'm ready to eat."

They walked into the house and Nathan sat down at the table. Valaine gave him his plate.

"I appreciate your parents letting me stay here," Nathan said.

"It's not a big deal."

Nathan chuckled.

"Have you heard anything from the others?"

Valaine shook her head no.

"We just have to focus on getting stronger for when the time comes."

"I'm worried about my sister."

"I'm sure she can handle herself."

"I know, but we haven't been apart like this for so long."

Valaine smiled.

"It's needed for the both of you to get stronger in you guys' own right."

"Yeah, I know."

Both started eating their food. They were enjoying each other's company. They heard the front door open.

"Mom, Dad, is that you?"

"Valanie run!"

Both heard something impaled Valanie's mother. They rushed to the door and saw an elemental Horseman.

"Zander?!" Nathan was shocked.

"Oh, Precious Nathan."

"What are you doing here?"

"I'm here for Valanie's ring."

"What do you mean?"

"The ring that amplifies her power."

Valanie was angry. Nathan was shocked. He remembers what Corin did to his family.

"So, you left the Kingdom?"

"Oh no. I'm just on the right side of the Kingdom."

"What do you mean?"

"Everything will come into the light."

Valanie rushed towards Zander. He kicked her back, sending her through a wall and her back hitting the sink. Nathan saw her cough up a lot of blood. Zander slowly walked over to her, but Nathan stood in front of him.

"Why are you doing this?"

"I follow power."

Zander slapped Nathan with his backhand, knocking him to the ground. The elemental Horseman stepped over Nathan and walked over to Valanie who was struggling to get up.

"Have over the ring."

"N-no."

Zander had a wicked smile. He raised his sword and impaled Valanie in her back.

"Be a good girl and hand over the ring."

Nathan saw this and low-kicked Zander. He hit the ground and Nathan rushed over Valanie. Zander quickly recovered and saw Nathan and Valanie trying to escape. He shot a blot of electricity at them. Valanie took the ring off and grabbed Nathan's hand.

"Take this ring and run away."

"I'm not leaving you." Nathan cried.

"You have to."

"No Valanie. I love you."

"I love you too, but this is the end of us."

Zander recalled his sword back to his. Valanie screamed as the sword left her back.

"I will buy you some time. Just run and go reunite with her sister."

Tears down Nathan's face. He slowly nodded and waited for Valanie. She kissed Nathan on the cheek.

"How cute a final moment before both of you die."

Valanie slowly opened her mouth and smoke escaped. The smoke quickly covered all of them.

"Nathan run!" Valanie screams.

Nathan ran out the back door and into the forest. He felt his power surging. He screamed out causing the trees to slowly rise in the air. In his final attempt to save the woman he loves, he launched the trees at the house.

Valanie smiled weakly. "I'm proud of you Nathan."

Zander saw these and quickly stabbed Valanie again before the tress hit.

Nathan dropped to his knees when he heard her scream in her final breath.
