The air was damp and cold, echoing with the distant sound of dripping water. Shadows danced along the stone walls as Nori and Jewel crept through the castle dungeon, splitting up. Nori's double blades glinting faintly in the low light. She had been sent to free the prisoners of the dungeon, but the real threat lurked around every corner: Hanzo, Corin's lethal enforcer and a master shapeshifter.
As she rounded a corner, Nori heard the unmistakable sound of bowstring being drawn taut. Instinct kicked in, and she ducked just as an arrow whizzed past her, embedding itself in the wall. She spun to face Hanzo, who stood cloaked in darkness, his expression a mixture of focus and disdain.
"You shouldn't have come here, Nori," he said, his voice low and steady.
Nori's heart raced. "I won't let Corin continue her reign. Not after what She did to my parents and her betrayal."
Hanzo's demeanor shifted, as he remembers what Corin did to Xu. His sharp features hardened, and a flicker of pain crossed his face. "I know about betrayal," he spat, drawing another arrow from his quiver.
"Why are you still serving her then?" Nori pressed, shifting her stance as she prepared for a fight. "You're better than this!"
Hanzo's eyes narrowed, and with a fluid motion, he transformed into a raven, darting above her head. Nori barely had time to react before he shifted back, arrow notched and ready. "You don't understand the price of betrayal," he replied, his voice echoing eerily. "You think you guys can take her down alone?"
"Watch us," she shot back, launching herself forward with a fierce cry, blades flashing in the dim light. She moved like water, flowing around him as she struck with precision. Their blades clashed, the sound reverberating through the dungeon like a warning bell.
As they fought, Hanzo found himself caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Each strike from Nori reminded him of his own lost strength, his memories of Xu flooding back. "You're strong, but you're reckless," he countered, barely parrying her strikes.
"Because I care! You think serving Corin will bring her back?" Nori retorted, her movements graceful and fluid, a blood-bending technique enhancing her strikes.
For a moment, their blades locked, and Nori stared into Hanzo's eyes, searching for the man she knew was still there beneath the anger and sorrow. "Join us," she urged, breathless. "Fight against her. We can end this together."
Hanzo hesitated, his grip on the bow wavering. Memories of Xu flashed before him—her laughter, her strength, her unwavering belief in him. The thought of her loss ignited a flame of rebellion within him. "You don't know what she'll do if I turn," he warned, voice low.
"I know what she's already done," Nori replied fiercely. "She killed the one person who meant everything to you. Let's make her pay."
With a roar of defiance, Hanzo transformed into a panther, his speed overwhelming as he leaped back, bow clutched in his mouth. He shifted back, the bow now a part of him, ready for battle. "Alright, let's do this," he said, determination etched across his face. "For Xu."
Nori smiled, a fierce light igniting in her eyes. Together, they free the prisoners, caught up with Jewel. They turned toward the dungeon's exit, ready to face Corin and her minions.
