She woke up after a deep sleep. Recognizing her surroundings; she came to realize that she was not home. She thought she was dreaming but it was the truth.

She got down. A frying sound could be heard from the kitchen. She entered the huge modern-style kitchen and found him cooking.

"So you can cook?" she asked him smiling.

"I am a bachelor; what do you think?" he replies.

She chuckled. She found this man very funny and chilling at the same time.

"I...I want to talk to you," she said.

He was making chicken and eggs for breakfast. He lowered the stove heat and turned to her.

"Go on," he said.

"I am very thankful to you that you offered me a night at your place and security as well. I want to move to one of my friends," she said.

He stared at her for a while and opened his mouth to say something when the main door opened and someone entered. She turned around; a tall boy in his mid-twenties walked in. He seemed tired and his green eyes were screaming his exhaustion.

"Kristan, you are home. Good time, meet Saliha. She is the daughter of infamous industrialist and army officer Imran Ali Gardezi," he said.

"The Gardezi family, hah..." Kristan said and Saliha felt annoyance in his voice but there was something else about this voice. She heard it before.

He was wearing hoodie and his green eyes were furious. Even he was wearing fingerless gloves.

"People who are so ungrateful that they sent their family members to someone else's house?" said Kristan while looking at Saliha.

She opens her mouth to say something when he abrupts her.

"Now, if you excuse us. I need to do something urgent," he said and walked off.

"This is not a good way to talk to someone Kristan," he said.

Kristan turns and faces them. His green eyes were glittering.

"Uncle James, this is a good way to talk to someone who is always uninvited in different situations and now at our house," he said, annoyed, and walked off.

Saliha felt as if someone had thrown a cold water bucket on her head.

He turns towards James awkwardly.

"I am sorry form his behalf. He is my nephew and he lost his mind these days. He is an officer at the crime branch," he said.

She smiled.

"I request you to drop me at my friend's house please James," she said.

He stared at her for a while.

"Okay, but first eat your breakfast," he said.

"Thanks," she said smiling.

After breakfast, she decided to go to college as she had to apply for an upcoming research program as she was doing a specialization in criminal psychology. She decided to change her profession because she realized that she could do something better in psychology.

"Thanks for everything, James. I am very, very grateful to you," she said.

"The doors are always open for you Saliha," he said, smiling.

"Can you drop me?" she asked.

"I could have but right now I have to go somewhere urgently but Kristen can," he said, grinning.

Kristen was reading some crime analysis; he snapped the file on the table.

"And what made you think I would do that?" he asked without looking at Saliha but straight looking at James.

A smile appeared on James' face.

The main door opened and a boy of Saliha's age appeared. He had dark brown hair and chocolate-brown eyes. He was 5.10 feet tall, slightly shorter than James and Kristen who were equal in height.

"Sir, the file is ready on time. I am sorry, I could not do it tomorrow and you have to go through all that mess," the boy said in one breath. It was obvious he was scared.

Kristen did not look at him.

"Place it on the table," he said. The boy walked ahead and placed it on the table.

"So, Uncle James, what made you think that I am going to drop her? Are you offering me a new job as her driver?" he asked.

Saliha felt anger rush through her veins.

"Excuse me, since I have arrived here you are just bad-mouthing about me? What is your problem? If you are not coming to drop me, I can go," Saliha snaped.

There was an awkward Silence in the room. The boy was staring at her and then at his boss.

"Listen..." Kristen was open to saying something to her when James spoke.

"Daniyal, you are going to drop her," said James.

"But...." Daniyal the boy, tried to say something looking at Kristen.

"It's an order," said James.

"Okay," said Daniyal, and Saliha felt pity for him.

Kristen's eyes were expressionless when he saw them leaving. He looked at James with disappointment in his eyes.

**********

"Why you were so scared when you entered that house?" Saliha asked to Daniyal.

"Well, they are my boss. Why wouldn't I? I don't want to lose my job," said the boy smiling while taking a left on the road.

"Boss? What do you do? I mean where do you work?" she asked.

"I am newly joined crime analysis at the crime branch and Kristen is my boss and Mr. James is my senior boss," he said, smiling.

Saliha remained quiet. She did not like this guy Kristen, an arrogant git. She found him worse than Roman.

"Drop me here," Saliha said. Daniyal stops the car.

"Thanks, and do tell James that I will never forget his favor," she said, smiling.

She entered the college boundaries and walked towards the corridor. She looked at the corner of the school grounds. Hania was sitting with Atta. She was smiling while he was talking to her on some topic.

She felt the same panic again. She wanted to solve this problem and now her own life turned out to be a huge panic.

"Did I make the right decision? I left home, uncle and aunt they must be worried but I had no other option. I can't get more humiliated by Roman," she thought.

She walks towards the classroom. The professor was sitting on the desk and writing the student's name.

"Professor, I want to join this program as well," she said.

"Oh, Saliha dear, I have been waiting for you. You have been selected for the winter programs and you have to stay in Glow Town for two months," said the professor.

"What?" she asked in shock.

"Yeah Saliha, this is part of our program. You have to attend a criminal institute for two months and do research and analysis," said the professor.

"But professor, you know I asked to put my name for inside city research," said Saliha in disbelief.

"Saliha, I tried my best but we need the most prized student in the whole school for this project and Roman Ali Gardezi was the best option no student ever beat his marks and reputation. So, we contact him but unfortunately, he is not in the country. He asked us to contact you, he said you can do it because he is your once Tudor," said the professor.

"Wait, he is not..."Saliha was about to complete her sentence when the professor abrupted.

"Saliha, this is a golden chance and you will leave in a week," Saliha felt as if someone grabbed her heart. She couldn't go, she had to help Hala.

She walks out of the room.
