CHAPTER ONE
impossible match
IN THE HEART OF THE CELESTIAL REALM, nestled amidst clouds of iridescent mist, stood the Cupid's Matchmaking Office, its ethereal halls bustling with activity. There, among the celestial beings and otherworldly entities, Valentina found her calling in the Supernatural Department, specializing in matching vampires with their destined partners.
The supernatural department had been alive as long as supernatural creatures had roamed the earth - witches, wolves, vampires. Valentina had worked in the vampire department since 1407. It was the newest branch of the three, started over nine hundred years ago when the vampire species was created.
From the three supernatural branches, it was renowned for its challenges, for vampires possessed a unique ability to turn off their emotions, erecting formidable barriers around their hearts that made them resistant to love's gentle touch. Theirs was a world cloaked in shadows, where love was often viewed as a weakness to be avoided at all costs.
Matching people together was not just her job—it was her passion, her purpose, and the very essence of who she was. For centuries, Valentina had devoted herself to her craft as a cupid, guiding countless souls toward their destined partners with unerring precision.
As she delved deeper into each case, Valentina's intuition and insight came alive, her heart soaring with the thrill of discovery. From the smallest of details to the grandest of gestures, she meticulously pieced together the puzzle of love, weaving a tapestry of destiny that transcended time and space. With a knowing smile, Valentina selected her arrows with care, each one pulsing with the power of love. She wielded them with grace and precision, guiding them toward their intended targets with unwavering confidence.
And as she watched the sparks of connection ignite between her clients, Valentina's heart swelled with joy, her own happiness reflected in the blossoming romances she helped to create, for she knew that in the world of love, there was no greater satisfaction than knowing that she had played a part in bringing two souls together in perfect harmony.
Valentina knew with unwavering certainty that she was exactly where she was meant to be—spreading love and happiness to all who crossed her path, one perfect match at a time. Valentina was in her office looking over her files, seeing the people who she was meant to match when she heard a knock on her door. "Come on in," she called.
The door to Valentina's office creaked open, and in stepped her boss. "Valentina," he greeted, his voice a melodic echo. "How did the case go in New Orleans?"
Valentina closed the file she was holding and neatly placed it on the pile with others, giving her boss all of her attention. "Good. A bit tricky but I think I found a good match for him."
