VALENTINA RETURNED TO THE SALVATORE HOUSE, her mind still reeling from her encounter with Elijah. He confused her. When Rose and Trevor kidnapped her, she was sure that Elijah would kill her but he had healed her. Then there were the flowers and just now, he had pulled her aside to talk to her.
Even though Elijah's actions confused her, he was still not their biggest problem at the moment. Elena's attempt to get Klaus's attention, coupled with the mission to retrieve the moonstone from the tomb, had only resulted in further complications. Now Stefan was trapped inside with Katherine, adding another layer of urgency to their already precarious situation. They had gotten the moonstone back but not without a cost.
She sighed as she stepped into her room in the Salvatore Boarding house. Feeling the ache in her neck intensify, Valentina reached up to touch the bruise, wincing at the tenderness. It was a stark reminder of Damon's accusation. The room didn't feel the same anymore. Stefan was locked in the tomb and she wasn't sure how to feel about living under the same roof as Damon anymore.
And the sad truth was that she had nowhere to go. She didn't know anyone, she had no money or job to leave the house.
Suddenly, Kol appeared beside her. He had been trying to find Elijah's plans and had followed the witches he was working with, unaware that Valentina had gone to find Slater with Rose and Elena.
"He's definitely up to--" his eyes narrowed as he took in the bruise on her neck. Anger flickered in his gaze, his voice sharp as he demanded, "Who did this to you?"
Valentina's heart skipped a beat at the intensity of his reaction. She swallowed hard, meeting Kol's gaze with a mixture of pain and resignation. "It was Damon," she admitted quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "He... he thought I was working with Elijah and Klaus."
Kol's expression darkened, his fists clenched at his sides. "That bastard," he muttered under his breath, his anger palpable. "I'll make him pay for this." He was feeling helpless that he couldn't do anything about it. "When I get out of that coffin," he growled, "I promise you, I will make him pay. I'll hurt him in ways he can't even imagine."
"I went with Elena and Rose to Slater's apartment," she revealed and winced at his reaction. "Elena wanted to get Klaus's attention but Elijah showed up. He took me outside and-- we talked."
Kol seemed suddenly more nervous. "What did he say?"
"He wanted to know if I was okay and safe in here?" she replied, still trying to figure out his motive. "He told me that he didn't want Klaus to find Elena. Did you find out anything about that?"
