KOL HAD FOLLOWED KLAUS to Alaric's apartment as soon as he had left the Salvatore Boarding House. It didn't take long for him to figure out when he heard that Klaus was in town, that he was already much closer than they expected.

After informing Valentina of his suspicion, he followed his brother to Alaric's apartment where he was currently looming over Katherine. Just moments ago they talked about their plans to kill Bonnie Bennett but that wasn't the biggest worry. It was Klaus' sudden interest in his Valentina.

Kol watched Klaus's expression, which was a mixture of curiosity and menace, his eyes cold and calculating. "I met this girl at the Salvatore House. Valentina. Who is she?"

Kol's attention sharpened at the mention of her. He knew his brother well enough to recognize that Klaus's interest wasn't casual. But why? Why was Klaus so focused on Valentina when he was so close to breaking his curse?

"Valentina? She's just another girl caught up in the Mystic Falls mess," Katherine replied. She was sitting on a chair, holding a bloody knife in her hand, and to Kol it seemed like she had been stabbing herself, probably compelled by Klaus.

Klaus's eyes narrowed, and he took a step closer to Katherine, his presence intimidating. "Tell me more."

Kol's mind raced. Klaus was known for his ruthless pursuit of power and his unyielding control over his enemies. But this felt different. Klaus's voice had a peculiar intensity, a hint of something personal. His interest in her made him want to go back to Valentina and insisted on her packing her bags and leaving Mystic Falls with him.

"She's close to the Salvatores, I think. When I got out she wasn't at the house and the brothers didn't really talk about her," she explained, seeming uncomfortable.

Now Klaus leaned in closer and compelled her, "How does she know the Salvatores?"

"She moved with them a couple of months ago after being banished," she spoke in a monotone voice.

"Banished?" he asked, trying to hide the pain in his voice after hearing about his mate's past.

"She was a Cupid," Katherine said, and Kol, who neither one of them could see, tensed. He wasn't aware that Katherine knew what Valentina was but it made sense that Katherine wanted to know all the players in town. Kol carefully looked at Klaus' reaction and he looked surprised but it did seem like he knew of the existence of Cupids.

Klaus's back straightened when hearing the news. "Cupid you say?" He leaned in closer, again compelling her. "What do you know about her and Elijah?"

Kol watched as Klaus compelled more information about Valentina from Katherine before compelling her to forget about his questions.
