VALENTINA's DAYS STRETCHED OUT BEFORE her with an unsettling sense of emptiness and boredom. As she grappled with the loss of her immortality and the stripping away of her wings, she couldn't shake the profound sense of emptiness and loss that consumed her soul. For so long, she had defined herself by her role as a cupid. Now, stripped of her powers and her purpose, she found herself adrift in a world that suddenly seemed cold and unforgiving.

The very essence of her being had been irrevocably altered, leaving her struggling to find her footing in a world that no longer made sense to her. Valentina was lying on the floor, her legs and arms spread out, making her remind of a starfish.

She heard the main door opening of the Salvatore Boarding house where she had been staying for the past two weeks. She had explained to Stefan as much as she could about her situation and what had happened, avoiding revealing too many details, thinking it would be too dangerous for him to know anymore. She still wasn't sure if anyone was after her or in how much danger she was in.

"Please tell me that she isn't compelled?" she heard a voice call by the door of the parlor.

"Alaric, meet Valentina," Damon sighed. "Valentina, meet Ric. She's a Cupid who is having an existential crisis."

"Shut up, Damon," she tiredly sighed, turning her head slightly to see who entered the house.

"I think I need some more info than that. A Cupid?" Ric repeated, looking between both of them.

"You know fat babies with wings and arrows?" Damon asked. "Well, like that but not like that at all."

"That's a stupid stereotype. Honestly, it's kind of offensive in our kind," she explained, tiredly sighing.

"I would wait for the movie," Damon added, looking at Ric who was looking even more confused.

"I'm not good at anything. What am I supposed to do?" she breathed out, still looking at the ceiling. "Maybe Tinder is hiring?"

"Stop being depressed," Damon rolled his eyes. "It's making me depressed."

"Well you should be depressed after being so horrible to women," she sighed. "I read your file and it did not look good."

"Is this real?" Ric asked and without looking, Valentina had a feeling he wasn't talking to her but rather trying to confirm it from Damon.

"You met your ex-wife Isobel Flemming at Duke University, folklore 101 lessons. She was wearing a pretty blue cardigan with flowers and you thought it was love at first sight," she started to deadpan and raised her head to look at him, "It wasn't. Amateur, whoever set you two together, if you ask my opinion. You waited for two weeks before approaching her and she shut you down but two days later you were paired on the same project. And I'm sure you know the rest."
