Crimson looks ahead with a faraway look in his black eyes. "It all started with someone I met. We met a few years ago, before you two could even walk. We were both in the forest that surrounds the kingdom when we ran into each other in the heat of a battle."
~.Flashback (3rd person).~
Number 12 Crimson Shadow Armor Ninja, a Number in the prime of his adulthood, dashed across the forest floor with some throwing stars in hand. He was hunting for some fresh meat for the chef, and he knew only the finest would do!
Crimson stopped when he spotted a pack of wild dogs. They were the large ones with the juicy meat and the sweet, sweet taste. The young ninja grinned under his mask and snuck up to the pack with the help of his natural silence. Not even a twig snapped under his weight!
He was right in throwing range when something moved to his right. Crimson's head whipped around to that area only to see a rather cute Number with wings. This one was male, of course, and he had bright green eyes that seemed to shine in the shadows of his goggles. His hair was spiked and silver, a beautiful color that matched his light skin tone, even if it was a little dirty. The pants he wore were baggy, but they still seemed to hang on to his waist. From what he could see, there were many pockets scattered around the surface, which meant that he would be able to hold more things if need be, kind of like the ninja's own tunic. His upper body was toned, not too much to be gross but also not to little to not be there. Even though he was an adorable little Number, made even more so by the fact that he was laying in the tree with his eyes fixed on nowhere, Crimson decided to ignore him for now. After all, he was on an errand!
Unbeknownst to him, the winged Number caught Crimson looking at him briefly. He wondered who he was for only a moment before watching the ninja battle with the pack. He shifted in the tree so that he was laying on his stomach to get a better view of this.
Crimson quickly drew two throwing stars from his tunic and threw them at the bigger of all the dogs. As usual, the hits landed, and the canine fell silently to the floor with a soft thump. The young ninja was about to go and claim his prize when a sudden stomp! shook the floor. The remaining dogs took no delay in running off with nervous yelps and their tales tucked between their legs. Crimson knew something was up, as did the Number in the tree.
From right behind the both of them, a very large creature towered over them, leaving them shadowed in its presence. The two Numbers looked over their shoulders; they knew that the creature was much too close to attempt an escape. Their only chance was to try and kill the thing.
The two shared a glance, knowing what the other was thinking. They didn't hold that gaze for long, though, because a massive paw slammed down on them both. They just barely evaded that attack, the winged Number with a quick, powerful downward thrust of his wings and Crimson with a jet of flame to propel him backwards.
"Do you think you can help with this?" Crimson asked the winged Number, who was flapping his wings at a steady pace to keep him in the air. "If this gets to the kingdom, the whole place will be in danger!"
Said Number grinned. "Sure. Just don't bail out on me!"
Crimson nodded. "You distract it with aerial attacks while I get to work cutting down the base."
"Gotcha!" The Number zipped up high to get to work.
Crimson drew his katana and rushed forward with amazing speed. Coating the blade with tongues of fire, he slashed at the legs to make the beast topple over. The plan, however, didn't work. To his surprise, a sharp shing! sounded on contact with the scales.
Are these made of metal!? He jumped back to avoid the kick of the beast and tried again only to be attacked by the beast.
Above, the winged Number was having trouble himself. No matter how many streams of energy he sent or how many times he aimed a physical attack to his head or neck, the beast seemed unfazed and merely made a counterattack, two of which landed on his chest and abdomen. The wounds were merely bruises, but they must have been deep bruises.
The creature seemed to chuckle, but it was bored with this game. It whipped its tail to swat away Crimson, and it slashed its claws right across the winged Number's chest, leaving deep gouges down the area and making the Number fall.
They both hit the ground some distance away from the beast with a grunt. However, it wasn't a very far distance, so the creature stomped over and held the two down with one massive paw.
"Now, morsels," it hissed, "you will die here!"
Crimson instantly knew he wasn't having any of this! He immediately lowered his mask with his one free arm and released a jet of flame from his mouth. To the surprise of all of them, the fire ripped right through the underside of the creature's jaw, ripping right through and killing the thing instantly. It toppled to the side, crashing into the trees and releasing its hold on the two.
They felt the weight come off of them and started sucking in large gulps of air to fill their lungs. Crimson, the least injured of the two, sat up and assessed the damage of his own body. Some muscles were bruised, a few slight bone cracks, but nothing that would impede his movement too much. The same couldn't be said of the winged Number, though, who was still on his back with blood coming out of his chest and left wing. Those were the only two wounds besides some bruises, but the wounds were deep.
Crimson limped over to look over the wounds. He pursed his lips. "I will have to treat these here. We won't make it back in time if I don't." The Number nodded, biting his lower lip to try and block the pain. The ninja managed to get the Number in a sitting position, leaning against a tree that was a small distance away. The Number winced at the movement, but he managed not to complain.
The ninja Number worked quickly to disinfect the wounds and to stitch them closed. Now, this was where the winged Number started whining and complaining about how much it hurt, so Crimson said soothing words so that he wouldn't move too much. Soon, the claw wounds were cleaned, stitched, and dressed.
"Let me see your wing," Crimson said.
"I-I think it m-may be bro-broken..." the Number strained as the ninja stretched the wing out as far as he could. The Number gritted his teeth when the gloved hands touched his wing.
Crimson saw the wing, and he knew that the wing was definitely broken and bent at an awkward angle. The fire ninja pursed his lips again. The skin and muscle wound need to be stitched, but the bone was the real problem. It would need to be snapped back in place and kept still.
"This is going to hurt," he warned the winged Number.
"What's go- AGH!!" He screamed in pain when Crimson forced the wing back into its original position. He quickly bit down on the fabric of the ninja's shoulder and even some of his flesh. His hands gripped the fabric in a tight grip.
Crimson was having a hard time getting the wing back into place, but finally, with a snap!, the wing was back in place. He quickly wrapped a bandage over the wing to the Number's back to keep it from moving. "There," he sighed. "I will take you back to the castle to get proper medical care." He then realized that he was talking to the unconscious body of the Number and chuckled with a shake of his head. He gently placed the winged Number on his back and teleported the wild dog back to the castle. Then, he walked back with the injured Number, a limp in his gait breaking the natural silence he had for so long.
Hey, I'm back! ^0^ I still have a little bit of writers block, but I'll soon update Recovery and Everything Changed, so be patient!! >^<
