"Hey, what's this?"

"It's dripping like goo!"

One Number, a teenaged girl, grips my arm fearfully. "Th-they are here!" She sounds completely panicked, which is understandable in this situation. "My king, p-please save us! I-I do not wish to-"

"Hush, now." I stroke her hair with my free arm. "They will not get to us as long as the walls are up." I turn to Amber. "How many left?"

"One last one before I get to mom!" she calls back to me.

I help her with the last one to speed up the process a bit. When that's done, she and I undo the straps that hold her mother down. The girl holds her mother up while I take the hand of the teenager and place my other hand on Amber's shoulder, wrapping a small band of ooze to keep it in place.

"Each of you needs to grab hands or be in contact with me in any way, shape, or form!" I instruct. "Hold the hand of someone that's touching me, and then go from there! If contact is broken for even a second, the Shadow Creatures that dwell in the realm we are about to enter will eat you, and I will not be able to do anything about it!" I start walking toward the shadow that Amber and I came through.

Suddenly, the wall of ooze that blocks the door starts to shudder. The Numbers look over with alarm, but none of them are stupid enough to cry out. They summon their overlay units and hold hands, following me into the vast abyss known as the Shadow Realm.

"Break it down!" a Human shouts. "Whatever's in there is intruding! We need to flush out any external influences!"

My heartbeat quickening, I look back to make sure everyone is in contact with one another. They all are, to my great relief. As soon as I know that the last one has entered the realm, I take down the door. With all the momentum built up for another ram, they all end up falling flat on their faces with goo sticking to them as they get up. An amused chuckle finds its way out of my vocal cords, and I walk on, sending a signal to Crimson while I make my way to the window.

So far so good. Aside from the incident in which Humans had to break down a wall that my brother clearly made, nothing too eventful happens. All we've done until now is look through files and computer information as well as cabinets for anything useful. Most of the guards have gone home, but the night watch is still roaming around, some of them taking care of the mess my brother made with some Humans in white coats. Of course, this does not mean that Humans are not looking for us. Thanks to the disturbance, we are actually in more danger of being found, but with our abilities to hide, none of us are found just yet. Still, if we get caught, I'm blaming Blackie for the stunt he pulled!

At the moment, we've split up to both cover more ground and reduce the chances of being found all at once so that in case one of us is caught, we can send a signal to the other two. I am currently waiting as a guard passes by ever so slowly. He seems to be checking every single little room and corner of the area for us. Now, the reason I don't just rush out past him is because he has a detector that senses anything out of the ordinary. Trust me, I know. I flew too close to him with my invisibility magic on, and the thing was ringing in my ears. There was a huge chase scene that followed, but luckily, I got away. I'm just waiting for him to be far enough so that I can escape.

That time finally comes. The moment he turns the corner, I zip out of the room and fly in the opposite direction and enter the first door I see that may have good information. In it is a desk, some test tubes, cabinets, and other equipment. On instinct alone, I check the cabinets for any papers worth my time.

Casting a silencing spell on the giant object, I swiftly fly through the metal drawers for any information whatsoever. Must to my utter shock, however, the door slams open. I freeze in place, cursing silently because I forgot to recast the invisibility spell on myself! I also completely forgot to lock the stupid door!
