"Sometimes fate is a stupid thing, but escaping from your own predetermined fate is something impossible to achieve. I can only tell you that it is only a meager 10 in a million who could manage to achieve this by either changing their predetermined fate or cutting all there strings of fate entirely until they no longer existed. Nevertheless, they were supposed to exist, where did they went?" Malam who was now leaning his back on the wall beside Rabi, took a long sigh before he continued after taking a sip of his usual type from his backpack.
"Will any of you want to know about your future? I think all of you will raise your hands with anticipation because all of us want to so much know if we will exist or what will happen to us in the next minute, hour, a day or a year. But having the ability to know what will happen in the future is a sick thing, I once wished that I was just as ordinary as you guys but it seems like I was merely overthinking things. The coming of the apocalypse which has enabled us to grow stronger only made this ability of mine to be even more conspicuous and I am trying so much to avoid this pattern of my life."
"I don't want to know about what will happen in the future, I want to be ordinary, is this so much to ask?"
"I once saw the day that one of my apostles will die, I saw it happening, the day that he will die, the type of death and how it will affect his family and... So I tried to stop it because he was my best apostle who was loyal to me and knew how to keep my dirty secrets. But you know what happened? Even though the apostle believed in me, he still died the way that it had been planned even though he tried to avoid it - this is why I say that breaking away from fate is almost an impossible matter."
"I stopped predicting people's future just a year ago. Yes, I am trying so hard to close my eyes so that I don't see what other people don't see. I had made improvements on this leaps and bounds but when I grow stronger, the feeling that I left behind is coming back. I don't know what to do and I don't want to tell people's future even if it is known to me. I vowed not to do that again and I will never will because it doesn't change anything..."
Malam had a look of nostalgia on his face as he said this and one could feel the pain that he was forced through. For some moments, no one interjected him as they allowed him to open his heart and let his agony all out.
"My life is crazy because of my ability and I don't want other people to fall into the pit that I have failed to come out... Jaff, please let it go. If I was in your foot, I would have just plunged myself to loneliness as I aspire for survival. You are the first person that I want to stay close to not because I love you or I care about you, it's because you are different. I can't tell you what this difference is because it might affect you but just know that you are different. You were not meant to behave or live like the others. You should act different because of your difference so that you can stay away from some things."
"Future is predictable but it is also unpredictable and it can change around you without you knowing..."
"I have heard enough of this shit already. As I said earlier, I will say it again... I... Will... Not... Let... Go... Of... Shamim. I know something might be wrong within me because of my overly obsession with her, but to tell you the truth... I like this obsession." Jaffery who was still sat on the floor smiled genuinely before standing up and said, "I will not allow Shamim to get out of my heart. I will do anything for he even if she wants me to die for her, I will definitely do it..."
"Bu! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Fuck you Jaff with all this damn bullshit. Open your fucking eyes! Out there in the dark, there are countless beautiful girls in distress just waiting for the first person who will help them and care for them and then they will love them for all their lives. Just walk out there and choose one of them, you can even decide to use them and throw them away after you are satisfied, there is no fucking government to restrain us..." Victor who was lying on the hospital bed while staring at the ceiling paused for a moment and took a puff before he continued, "trust me. If you uttered this word Shamim around me again, I will kill you, I want you to satisfy yourself with these damsels in distress not a damned thing."
"Please don't indulge in crime at this time of the pandemic. I know the government will work tirelessly to correct the situation, I am certain that the whole world has already known of our perilous situation and they will not sit down without helping us. The United States will do what she usually does, you should all calm down..." An old doctor among the three huddling in the corner advised Victor.
"What government? Fuck those corrupt and selfish bastards! I will kill that stupid president the moment I will see his stupid face... Again, who are you to lecture me on what I should do?" As Victor said this, he stood up and walked towards the corner where the doctors were. "For your information, the whole world ended a long time ago and no one is coming to save you. Everyone is barely surviving and you are here talking shit."
Victor suddenly grasped the neck of the old man and raised him up from the corner using his right arm.
The old man shook uncontrollably with tears streaming down onto his cheeks and one could see that he was trying to say something but the words could not get out of his mouth because his throat had been gripped tightly.
Because Victor was looking on the other side while showing both Malam, Rabi and Jaffery his back, they could not see his sinister smile as he enjoyed strangling the old man. The old man's legs were dangling in the air as his comrades quivered at the corner while begging Victor to release the old man.
"That's enough Victor!" Malam finally said making Victor to release his grip from the old man's throat, though reluctantly. The old man slumped to the floor while coughing his heart out. On the other side, one could see that Jaffery's nails had dug into his palms until blood flowed out, he was utterly agitated but he could not do anything or utter a sound.
"I think we should all separate from here. I am going to search for Shamim on my own." Jaffery was so angry in that he thought that if he stayed in the same room with Victor for a long time, then he would have to fight him so that he could calm his heart.
"No! No! No! Who has given you the permission to leave?" Victor asked coldly.
