"Friend, why are you heading to the hospital? I have not seen any injury on you, not to mention that you don't look ill?" He asked the fortune teller before taking a sip of the liquor given to him.
"Well... My house maid has caught a cold and I have to search for the medicine that can cure her. I know in the hospital, we will not find any doctor or patient alive but that doesn't mean that there are no medicines in their pharmacies." The fortune teller answered tiredly before he took a long puff and continued after exhaling the smoke to the face of Jaffery who had just turned back to steal a glance at the back. "This house maid of mine is called Rabi Opara... Or you can simply call her Rabi and as for me, you can call me Prince Malam, yes. I was once a priest in Mumbai before our church was burned down by those pacifist arsonists, I only came to chill in Nairobi as I awaited to be recalled back but I didn't knew that the apocalypse will find me here. But it's great because I have made quite some friends in this city."
The fortune teller then took a drag before he leaned his back on his seat.
'This Malam guy is sure a crazy individual. He has so many occupations, but anyway, that's not for me to wallow into. But wait, why did he have only his house maid and a few bottles of liquor instead of carrying survival tools? Or he would have even taken his wife or children with him instead of choosing his maid. Ooh wait, he was a priest in Mumbai and naturally, all priests are celibate fools.'
Jaffery once again tilted his head to glance at the people on the back seat and he only got his face to be splashed over by exhaled smoke from the cigar between Malam's fingers.
As if knowing what Jaffery wanted to ask, Malam said after heaving a sigh, "I only picked up my maid and a few of the best in my wine rack before leaving my house. After all, carrying many stuffs will only drag me down."
From the corner of his eyes, Jaffery could see Malam caressing the fine behind of his house maid. His hands had never left playing with her body, he would even fiddle with her boobs and kiss her thigh but the woman didn't do a thing to refuse Malam's advances, her face was pale and she seemed like she could faint at any moment, from time to time, Malam would wisper to her ears telling her to hold on because they were about to reach the hospital.
Seeing everything that Malam didn't dare to hide, Jaffery could only shook his head. Even if he was a fool, he could clearly tell that Malam was a tiger in sheep's clothing.
'Even the celibate priests also need to satiate their 'hunger', thought under the limelight, they are only fooling the congregants by telling them that they don't mingle with the opposite sex. However, their summons are good and restoring so, their dark lives can be overlooked.' Jaffery lit up his cigar and took a drag. The world was ending so, he didn't have to worry about the negative effects of cigarettes as even before those effects found him, Jaffery thought that he would already be six feet under.
"We are about to reach to the hospital and I think things will start to be nasty." Jaffery uttered but Malam didn't say a thing as if he had not heard him. Jaffery knew very well that the corrupted beasts would definitely exist in the hospital because there had to be survivours there which would keep the corrupted beasts there as they search for those survivours. All the way to the hospital, Jaffery had only met a few corrupted beasts.
Gruu! Gruu!
Before even Jaffery could enter into the gate of the hospital, his stomach started growling, he felt immense pain that he had never felt before but again, he could feel some pleasure within this pain and before he could think of what was the problem, his belly was ripped, just a small hole the size of a nipple. From this hole, a white worm poked its head out, looking at the outside world with curiosity. The worm wriggled its head around hesitatingly before it decided to head back to Jaffery's belly. Apparently, the wine that Jaffery had just drunk had made the worms so agitated in that they decided to go crazy and tore through his skin.
Jaffery was seeing all this by himself and he even forgot that he was driving. He spurted a mouthful of blood and the wine bottle in his hand fell from his grip and spilled its contents on the car seat. Without even stepping on the car brakes, so that he could get out and open the gate of the hospital, the car was allowed to ram into the gate and because his car was stronger, the gate was wholly shoved aside before the car stepped on the fallen gate thus puncturing its front tires.
"What? Ooh no, you have really fucked all of us." Malam was wide awake! He still had not known the perilous situation that Jaffery was in. His eyes were looking far ahead of them and he could see countless corrupted beast squirming on top of each other just to be the first one to reach to the meal that had brought itself to them. The banging sound that the broaken gate made when the car was struck on it was the one which allerted the corrupted beasts, they had thus tilted their heads towards the commotion and upon seeing the flickering lifeforces, they could not ignore this calling allure.
The car had been broaken thus, the passengers had to abandon it and walk into the pharmacy of the hospital which was a kilometer away from the gate but in between here, there were countless corrupted beasts that they had to take care of before they could even think about searching for this pharmacy.
