Jaffery was so exasperated for being too useless and helpless. He could not even help a beautiful friend that he met on the road. All this just made his mind to be muddled and he lost both focus and clarity.
"You will pass this. Your future will not end here and I have seen that you will have an unlimited longevity and power." Malam said this to Jaffery and patted his shoulder. One should know that Malam had already stood up quickly and got out his glaive before he halted the advance of the corrupted beasts that had wanted to rip Jaffery apart.
Malam decapitated several corrupted beasts that jumped on him hungrily. He was totally an embodiment of something else and he was not as grinning the way he usually was. Right now, he was totally solemn.
"Continue with what you were doing. You need to calm down so that you can fix the jig saw. And as for the ladies, just forget about them, Sometimes, sacrifices are needed so that one could ascend to power. You need to let go of some things." Malam continued, his glaive never rested as it continued severing the appendages of the beasts as if they were made of tofu, but that didn't mean that severing the appendages of the beasts was killing them, No. These beasts had a high vitality and they would squirm on the ground even without the appendages while showing their teeth, they were maniacs and in their eyes, it was the lifeforces of the humans before them that they wanted.
Malam's glaive cut through a few raindrops without splashing them apart and his glaive continued forward before hacking through the head of the beast that was baring its fangs at him.
"Jaff, please save me! Aaaarrrrghhh! My leg. It's painful, so painful... Don't bite me." Jaffery who was still hesitating after hearing what Malam was saying, he heard the cries of the frail woman once again. This time round, it really got into his mind and he turned towards the car, he was adamant about saving the woman no matter what.
He pushed the matter about the worms in his body, the pain and about learning the technique at the back of his mind and got out his cleaver.
"You can not go! Those girls were fated to die at this place." Malam's blonde hair swayed from side to side thus spreading the rain drops evenly, even if his red gown that had stuck on his skin was getting on his way, Malam didn't dare to rip his gown apart or remove it, he just allowed the rain and the green blood of the beasts to drench it, but the splattered green blood on his gown didn't stay there for too long on him as it was quickly washed away by the rain.
"Move! I don't know you! Why are you getting on my way. I will not allow my woman to die in this place when I am watching. I have to save her." Jaffery shoved Malam who had stood on his front aside and walked staggeringly towards the car. Without even knowing, Jaffery had started to recognize the frail woman as his property. Rain drops splashed over Jaffery's face and the rain water even managed to enter into his eyes but Jaffery didn't dare to rub off the rain water from his eyes as his bloodshot determined eyes were fixed on the car carrying the ladies. He had to save them even if he were to die. Beside him, the agitated beasts that were no longer being held back by Malam finally got the chance to jump on Jaffery.
Clank!
Malam's glaive made a clank sound as it met with a claw of a beast that threatened to rip his heart out, his glaive didn't just stop there as it continued forward and stabbed the beast's eye up to its brain, thus killing it.
"He can not escape from the predetermined fate. Even if I have tried to change this fate, it seems that the universal laws can not be easily broken by mere mortals like us. Even if I know some fractured parts from the future, that doesn't mean that I can change the path of the future. It's just complicated. I will just have to save myself and leave him to fight it out himself. Maybe a miracle might happen. However, that doesn't mean that I can not help him from the background, I will have to help him at least." Malam fought his way towards Jaffery but he didn't dare to come too close to him as he only reduced the pressure that Jaffery was under.
"This is the little that I can do for you. I have sacrificed my housemaid so that he could live but it seems things don't work like that to a person like him." A tear could be seen dripping down onto Malam's cheek but because of the rain, it made his dripping tears inconspicuous.
Finally, Jaffery managed to painstakingly get closer to the car but his state was very much worse. He was not less that a dead person, it was only his will to live and save the frail woman which was making him to continue living.
"Please don't die. I like you so much. I have liked you the moment I put my eyes on you at the first time." Jaffery said this subconsciously as even speaking it out loud was so painful for him.
He had managed to get to the car but much of the chunks of flesh from his body could not be seen. His left arm had been wholly severed, the beast that had left with his arm, he didn't knew and he didn't care. It was only the scapula of his shoulder that remained dangling. He now looked more of a monster than a real person.
Meanwhile, Jaffery swung his cleaver with his remaining right arm but the beasts were no longer afraid of him as one of then missed his strike and clawed his right cheek out, right now, his right side jaws could be seen clearly but Jaffery's eyes still had the resolve to save his woman.
He rolled aside while leaning on the hull of the car but he was tripped by the gate and fell to the ground.
'At least, I am not too far away from the door.' Jaffery thought. Fortunately, the side that he came with didn't led him to the driver's seat but to the opposite side of the car, where the frail woman was seated beside the driver.
With his trembling hand that had too many lesions and blood covering them, Jaffery opened the car door, he didn't have the energy but he forced it open even if he was feeling the pain everywhere.
However, the moment that he opened the door, what he saw left his mouth agape.
