Without waiting for further ado, Jaffery got out the red card that he obtained after killing several consuming worms. This was the technique that he was depending on so that he could get rid of the worms in his body. If this didn't work, then he would just have to accompany some of the corrupted beasts to the nether.

"Oooh dear Lord, help me. Just this single miracle. Let this technique not be trash but something good that will enable me to get this over with." Jaffery said a simple prayer but when he raised his head and glanced at where the corrupted beasts were, he even forgot what he should do as panic overtook him.

"Why are they so fast‽" Jaffery asked himself but with a loud voice of which even Malam who was seated in a meditative pose beside him could hear. 

Apparently, the corrupted beasts had already had them surrounded and they just needed to be riled up for one of them so that they could jump on these humans and rip them apart.

Growl! Growl! Growl!

The corrupted beasts snarled dauntingly at the few humans before them. One could even see their saliva dripping down from their stinky maws as they fantasize how the flesh of the humans before them would really test in their maws. The beasts also seemed to be in some sought of a heated debate, probably, they were talking about how they were going to share the few pieces of meat before them.

Neither Jaffery nor Malam moved because they knew that the moment one of them lifted even a finger, that person would be ripped apart so, no one did anything.

"Since they are not attacking, let me learn this consuming technique." Jaffery decided. He didn't need to move in order to learn the technique as he could simply will it and then he would be able to learn.

In the meantime, Jaffery was taken down the history of the consume technique how it came about and how it found itself being used by the consuming worms. From this history, Jaffery came to learn that the skill consume came from the race of the ants. With their small bodies, those ants could eat everything within a planet when given the time and leeway.

[ CONSUME DESCRIPTION. Consume everything in your path. There was once a philosopher in one of the more advanced planets, that is planet Roca. This planet had been completely devoured by technology in such a way that all the things of the past and traditions had been completely forgotten and burned in the minds of the denizens of planet Roca. But with technology, comes its disadvantages one of them being that the agricultural scientists of planet Roca had gone completely insane with the thought that food can be synchronised and broken down into its basic components and then here these scientists separated the most needed nutrients by the body and made a small pill. The junk staff that remained of the food was then ejected aside as that would only be excreted by humans as shit if they ate it, and why that while one could just eat what is needed by the body and distance themselves from the often need to visit the washrooms each time? This these scientists came up with this food pill that when it was taken, the body would absorb it wholly. One would feel satisfied and they would not need to eat anything. This pill was then welcomed by all in planet Roca and thus the huge farms were taken down just to provide space for more tech. But was the food pill successful? What happened to planet Roca denizens who chose to side with the food pill? Are they still humans by defying the odds? Can that pill be trusted? No one knows what happened to Planet Roca as it had been separated from the outside world (interstellar federation) for many eons. 

Anyway, Consume is a technique that can enable the user to digest anything. Yes, to interstellar federation, anything is good, be it plastics, crude oil, dirt, hair, faecal matter, humans, animals, trees, anything yes. Even though most of the interstellar federation denizens still believe in the traditional food that comes from plants and animals, there are some people who had already shifted to other sources of food like precious stones that has crucial minerals needed by the body and even their own faecal decay. The user should be glee for receiving this skill as it is one of the most sought after as it can save anyone who likes jungle adventure. By using this skill, the user can easily digest anything. 

Note that using this skill can be nasty at times and it requires 10 points in spirit and 5 points in endurance. ]

"I feel so hungry." Jaffery could not help but say this even before he finished learning the technique. 

Presently, he had now learned 10% of the technique and he still needed time to finish learning it.

"Why do I feel as if I need something to finalize this technique? The learning has stopped at 20% completion and it is not moving forward anymore..." While Jaffery was being disoriented by how things were unfolding, he suddenly paused for a moment.

"No, wait. The ladies. Who is taking care of them?" He said this out loud which further agitated the corrupted beasts around them as a prudent one jumped on him without caring. This action made the others to stop hesitating and they jumped amongst themselves just to have both Malam and Jaffery.

"Help! Someone help. Jaff where are you?" Both the overwhelmed Malam and Jaffery heard the cry of the frail woman. Jaffery didn't knew where she had got to know his name but he just wanted to leave and go there beside her so that he could protect her but he was also too overwhelmed by the beasts, not to mention that he was still learning the consume technique. Even if he would not have been in the middle of all these, he would still have needed to worry about the consuming worms that had not left him. What could he do? Save the woman, kill the beasts or learn the consume technique? Or ignore everything and die?
