THROUGHOUT THE PREVIOUS WEEK, [Name]'s parents had been persistently trying to get her to explain how the breakup with Aiko had happened.

They were baffled, having always seen the two as a perfect couple. [Name], however, was determined to keep the details vague, not wanting to ruin Aiko's reputation with her parents.

Currently, [Name] was sitting with Emi, waiting for class to begin. Emi turned to [Name], ready to speak, but hesitated as if something held her back. [Name] noticed the hesitation and glanced at her best friend.

"Is there something wrong?" [Name] asked gently. "You can tell me anything. Remember that."

"Well... it's been a week since Suna was with that other girl. I'm just wondering where you two stand?" Emi whispered, careful to avoid anyone overhearing.

[Name] looked away, her gaze dropping to the floor as she pondered how to explain the situation. She finally smiled and looked back at Emi.

"He told me to wait for him," [Name] admitted. She watched Emi's reaction closely, seeing confusion and concern play out on her friend's face.

"What the fuck?" was all Emi could manage initially, her voice a mix of shock and disbelief. She was bewildered by this news. She then added, "Why do you need to wait for him?"

"He said he was trying to be nice to the girls—" [Name] began to explain.

"Why would he need to be nice when he would have you?" Emi cut [Name] off. She was now seeing less of an appeal in her best friend talking to Suna.

"Well—"

"I don't know [Name], I shouldn't have gotten you involved with him," Emi cut [Name] off again, it wasn't in purpose. Well, it was, she didn't want to hear her best friend give some dude a bunch of excuses.

Not only did she not want to hear her best friend giving a dude excuses, she felt guilty. Guilty that [Name] was dealing with a hoe.

"Emi," [Name] placed her hand on Emi's arm.
