Rob sits outside the barn. Inside he can hear Max trying to train Kenzy and laughs. He thinks to himself how nice it feels to not be the one getting yelled at by her. Thinking of Hope causes his smile to fade. The truth is, she is right. He has been neglecting her opinions about Kenzy and yes, he does have some sort of feelings for Kenzy, but nothing Hope should be threatened by. Putting his head in his hands, he comes to the realization that women are impossible to understand.
Hearing footsteps heading towards him, he turns to see Max walking out the door. Plopping down next to Rob, Max sighs. "I need a break."
Rob just laughs.
"I think she is honestly clueless about all of this, Rob. The girl has never seen a zombie! Don't you think if she knew anything about her father's involvement with the zombies, she would be acting differently?" Max says.
"Maybe it's all an act."
"Or, maybe she's just a confused, angry girl who found her father murdered. I'm telling you, Rob something isn't right about this whole situation."
Rob doesn't have a response.
"Where is Hope?" Max asks.
Rob points to the house.
"I'm going to go check on her. You need to talk to Kenzy before she gets herself killed." Max walks away, leaving Rob with a jumble of thoughts.
Rob sits for a few moments longer. Max and Hope's words race through his mind and he tries to sort through them. Max is correct in one way. If Kenzy does not have the desire to be a zombie hunter, there is a real chance she will get careless and end up killed. At the same time, he knows the team needs her. Even if she knows nothing about what her father was doing, she still has the makings of a hunter."
"I'm just saying... weed will help you fight better!" Trojan tries to convince Kenzy to take up his habit.
"I don't see how that's possible." Kenzy argues, trying not to laugh at the stoner standing next to her.
"Well, let me explain myself, missy. Weed makes people happy. Happy people move faster and think more clearly."
"I'm sure it just makes you hungry and act like a drunk." Kenzy cannot contain her laughter any longer.
Trojan throws his arm over Kenzy's shoulder. "Now, why you gotta bring me down?"
Removing his arm from her back, Kenzy grins. "I don't think I could bring you down if I tried. You're pretty far gone."
Rob walks in, getting Kenzy and Trojan's attention. "Hey what's going on?" He asks.
"I'm just explaining the importance of a good smoke every now and then." Trojan answers and plops down on a stool.
"Right..." Rob rolls his eyes then looks at Kenzy. "Can I talk to you alone?"
Kenzy nods and follows Rob outside. Placing her hand over her stomach, the butterflies feel like they could burst through her skin, and she thinks to herself how absurd she is acting. "Are you sure you want to leave him in there unsupervised?" She jokes.
"He'll be fine." Rob misses the sarcasm. "I just wanted to make sure you are where you want to be." He blurts out.
Shooting him a confused look, Kenzy asks, "What do you mean?"
"I know you've only been here a day but it's important that you want to stay. If you're not one hundred percent committed to this job, it can be deadly."
"Rob, I'm tired of running. I'm here because I want to help you kill zombies."
"What about your father? You said you wanted to avenge his death."
