The kitchen was a flurry of activity as you and Mary Earps worked together to prepare dinner for the evening. Bowls clattered, utensils clinked, and laughter filled the air as you navigated the chaos with practised ease.

But just as you were about to add the final touches to the meal, Mary's voice cut through the noise, filled with disbelief and dismay.

"What do you mean there's only eight?

You turned to see Mary standing at the counter, a look of frustration on her face as she surveyed the ingredients spread out before her. It was clear that something was amiss, but you couldn't quite figure out what had gone wrong.

"What's going on, Mary?" you asked, concerned creeping into your voice as you approached her side.

Mary sighed, running a hand through her hair in frustration. "I was supposed to have ten eggs for this recipe," she explained, gesturing to the empty carton on the counter. "But it looks like we're two short."

You frowned, mentally running through the list of ingredients you had gathered earlier that day. It was possible that you had overlooked the eggs in your haste to get everything ready, but you couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't adding up.

"Let me check the fridge," you said, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

With a determined stride, you made your way to the refrigerator, pulling open the door and scanning the shelves for any sign of the missing eggs. And that's when you saw it—the carton of eggs tucked away behind a row of condiments, hidden from view.

Grinning triumphantly, you retrieved the carton and held it up for Mary to see. "Found them!" you declared, relief flooding through you as you realised that the crisis had been averted.

Mary's face lit up with a smile, gratitude shining in her eyes as she reached out to take the eggs from you. "You're a lifesaver," she said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation.

As you returned to the counter to finish preparing the meal, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride. Despite the hiccup, you and Mary had worked together to overcome the obstacle, proving once again that there was nothing you couldn't accomplish when you were by each other's side. And as the delicious aroma of the dinner filled the kitchen, you knew that tonight would be a meal to remember—a testament to the power of teamwork and determination in the face of adversity.
