You never imagined spending your Friday night tangled in a conversation about tactics and formations. But here you were, sitting on the couch with Leah Williamson, your girlfriend and Arsenal's star defender, as she passionately explained the nuances of a back three versus a back four.

"And then, if the opposition's wingers are pressing high, we need our wingbacks to drop deep. But if they're staying back, we push them forward to exploit the space in the middle third, and that's when we can overload the central areas," Leah continued, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.

You nodded along, trying to keep up with the rapid-fire football jargon. Your knowledge of the sport had certainly grown since you started dating Leah, but moments like this reminded you just how much of a newbie you still were.

As she paused to take a breath, you seized the opportunity to interject. "Wow, that was a lot of words," you said with a playful grin, "but I think I understood at least three of them."

Leah burst into laughter, her expression softening as she looked at you. "I'm sorry, I sometimes forget that not everyone lives and breathes football like I do."

You shrugged, a warm smile spreading across your face. "It's okay, I like hearing you talk about it. Even if I don't always understand, I love seeing how much passion you have for the game."

Leah's face softened further, and she reached out to take your hand, squeezing it gently. "You're the best, you know that? Thanks for always listening, even when I go on these tangents."

You squeezed her hand back, feeling the warmth and affection between you both. "Of course. And hey, maybe one day I'll actually understand what a false nine is."

Leah chuckled, shaking her head. "I'll hold you to that. But in the meantime, how about we take a break from football talk? We could watch a movie or, you know, do something you like."

You grinned, leaning in closer. "How about we compromise? We can watch Bend It Like Beckham and you can point out all the things they get wrong."

Leah laughed again, this time with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Deal. But only if we can have popcorn."

You nodded enthusiastically. "Popcorn is a must."

As you settled into the couch, Leah wrapping an arm around your shoulders, you felt a wave of contentment wash over you. You might not understand all the intricacies of football, but moments like this—sharing laughter, learning from each other, and simply being together—were what truly mattered.

And as the movie started, Leah's commentary only making it halfway before dissolving into more laughter and playful banter, you knew you wouldn't trade this for anything. Because even if you only understood three words, they were the ones that counted: "I love you."
