You shuffled nervously as you stood in front of the door to Alex Greenwood's apartment. You were holding a small box wrapped in glitter paper, unsure if this was the right thing to do. Alex was known for her dark humour and love for the macabre, but even then, bringing a box of what some might call "questionable content" felt like pushing the boundaries.

With a deep breath, you knocked on the door, trying to ignore the racing of your heart. The door swung open, revealing Alex with a mischievous grin that only grew wider when she saw you.

"Hey there," she greeted, leaning casually against the doorframe. "What's in the box?"

You handed it to her, biting your lip. "I wasn't sure if you'd appreciate this, but..."

Alex took the box eagerly, her eyes lighting up as she tore off the wrapping paper. Inside was a small, intricately carved wooden box. She opened it delicately, revealing a preserved butterfly inside, its wings vibrant against the velvet lining.

"Oh darling," Alex breathed, a genuine smile spreading across her face. "You always bring me the best gifts."

You let out a relieved laugh, glad that she liked it. "I found it in this old curiosity shop downtown. Thought it might fit your... aesthetic."

Alex carefully closed the box and set it down on a nearby table, then turned back to you with a grateful look in her eyes. "It's perfect. Thank you."

As you stood there, sharing a quiet moment in her dimly lit apartment, you realised just how much Alex appreciated your thoughtfulness and understood the quirks that made her who she was. It was moments like these that made you treasure your time with her even more.

"Anytime," you replied softly, a warmth spreading through your chest as Alex stepped closer, her hand finding yours.

In that quiet, intimate space, surrounded by the relics of Alex's fascination with the strange and unusual, you knew that your gift had found its place among the other treasures she cherished. And as she leaned in to press a gentle kiss against your lips, you couldn't help but smile, grateful for the bond you shared and the unique ways in which you connected.

As you pulled away, Alex's gaze lingered on you, a playful glint returning to her eyes. "So, what's next on our agenda of morbid curiosities?"

You chuckled, already thinking of new adventures to embark on together. With Alex Greenwood by your side, there was never a dull moment, and you wouldn't have it any other way.
